Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Must be.....we are in escrow on a nice A-1A! If all the used airplanes get purchased, the demand for new ones should go up :D

Re: Where did you fly today?

Funny I originally thought of the other 206, one made by Cessna. How much do you trust that patch of snow late season? Hiking I've seen snow like that that was hollow underneath. Cool pictures.

Yes, it was very creepy, like landing on lake ice close to an open lead. There happened to be a LongRanger parked there with a full load of passengers when I went by earlier, so I figured it would be ok for me an hour later - I even landed a few feet further from his tracks away from the water. And did a pretty solid seating check. While hiking around I found a couple of better flat rock alternatives that I would use next time.

Did a 1.2 this weekend and he loved it. He did a great job, though he did succumb to the snooze monster before the end. 10/10, will do again as soon as we can!

Re: Where did you fly today?

Saturday late afternoon, daughter #1 who helps me run the whitewater and outfitting business did a littl spying on several groups we had out for multi day trips.

This is generally the way people look that fly with me.

Image
This is looking south into the Wilcox Lake Wild Forest in the southern Adirondacks. 125,000 acres+- It's generally low rolling hills. The bulk of the Siamese Ponds Wilderness area would be off our right wing.

Image
This is the South end of Indian Lake. We had a group camped on the point in the foreground. Indian Lake is the Northern edge of the Siamese Ponds Wilderness area. 114,000 Acres +- It is roughly 16 - 18 miles of unbroken woods lookers left (South) to where the previous photo was taken.

The lake is low enough that we could only get to within 50 yards. Nice sand though!

Re: Where did you fly today?

Found a new strip in Northern Alberta. Everyone kept saying you can't fly a 206 in there until they saw mine perform, then they said it'd be no problem. (They all think NW can't go anywhere a TW can...) Nice strip with a bit of a narrow spot in the center where there is a ditch running across. Nice little cabin with a bunch of supplies there as well. Turns out a customer of mine owns it, so I'll probably end up camping there a few nights a year. It is about 1500feet long with tall tress on one end and along the sides, not real wide, and I wouldn't want to have much ground speed when coming to the ditch with a NW aircraft. Fun little strip. Good on you David. I’ve never met that young man, but I’m connected to one of his school friends. He’s got friends he’s never met who are hopeful for his future. He’s got good good family, so I have faith that he and his brother will rise up.

Landing in Faith was descending into the ink pot. And the wind was blowing pretty good 500 feet up, quit below that.
