Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

If this is the Birch I'm thinking of it has decent sized Splake and Brookies in it.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Took a lunch trip to VT Sunday. My wife really likes little drainages, like this and always takes a photo of one she hasn't seen yet.

I also like the transition from Mountains to farm land once you hit the Champlain Valley. It's pretty much a line in the sand that runs basically the whole length of the lake. This is the West side of Champlain looking towards the ADKs. Our strip is about 40 miles from here.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Awesome pictures BRD, seems like your wife flys the Husky more than you do :D .

Love your pictures!

Favor to ask, can you caption some of your pictures when you post, I am always curious what the names of the lakes you are flying around are. I would love to pack up from here and move to northern MN. I like the Vermilion area. My grandfather left Cook for Alaska in the early 1920’s, I think it would be something if his grandson mover to Cook a hundred years later. Full circle.

Re: Where did you fly today?

No problem Kurt, I'll edit the above. The Vermillion area is beautiful! Zane isn't that far away down in Eveleth and Henny runs the USFS seaplane operation up the road in Ely. I have an uncle and aunt about 10 miles from Tower on a little lake that I just can't quite get a Cub into due to surrounding hills and trees, Similar to flying out of a caldera...

Re: Where did you fly today?

I will be on Lake Vermilion Sept 25 to October 5th. Rented a cabin, taking my boat up to do some fishing. Would love to hook up with Zane and maybe you could fly up. Would love to meet other local flyers too.

This and a couple of Cessna's are at the Tower airport. Tower has a super nice floatplane setup.

Re: Where did you fly today?

That's funny. I took the family to Tower last Saturday and we took a photo with that Beaver.

Yeah, it was a monumental day to get all four of us in that rental 172. The little one, immediately after takeoff: "I LOVE THIS! I SEE A ROAD. I SEE A HOUSE. I SEE ANOTHER LAKE."

Then she'd tell me to stop talking because she's relaxing. Haha.

They really are. I don't know how to feel about it. They're still snuggly with their dad though.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Picking up backpackers in the Revelation Mountains. September is a mixed bag in Alaska. I'm thankful for less people, beautiful colors, and ready for the season to wind down, but the flying gets harder. I always end up fueling out of jugs more in September than the rest of the season combined. Normally in the cold rain. At least this group wasn't hunting - non-resident hunters are 100% my least favorite groups.
