Re: You sellin' out Zane???

After nearly 38 years here I am, still married to my first wife. I have no better friend or ally to call on when the world turns. Just keep the surprises small and the rewards will be great. Include her in those down the road plans and you will have two working toward them.
About a month before leaving on our failed attempt to make it all the way to the Utah Fly-in, my wife Rosemary was at her desk at work. The room started spinning and she could not stand up. I got the call and took her to the emergency room and she was diagnosed with positional vertigo. She had to take a battery of airsick pills to be able just to sit on a chair and then had therapy to retrain her eyes to follow a moving object and get them to stop tracking around the spinning room when the object stopped. I knew we would not make the fly in and did not even bring it up. About a week before the time to go she asked why I wasn't getting prepared, she wanted to go to. We left in a one day weather window to get out and came back on the only day that the weather would have allowed also. We never had one good day to fly in that was not +20 to gusting 30 the whole time. She was a trooper and we had our first long plane trip in spite of all else. When I made a sorrowfully bad landing in that wind and was finally down and rolled to the stop I was worried she would never want to get back in but she said, "I didn't know you were that good a pilot to recover from a gust like that." She is at my side and my biggest fan. Zane, I wish you same.

Congrats!

Find your way to California before the 170 sells and I'll shoot some bitchin air-air for you... that way you can have a sweet 20x30 to put up in your new digs!

First, congratulations.
Second, kids ARE expensive. Trust me on that one.
Third, you may want to review your asking price for the skychicken. There is a 170 that just popped up on barnstormers for only $139,000. Always hangered.

Re: You sellin' out Zane???

Just wanted to show a pic of my new airplane. It's a bit of a basket case but I'm gonna wear this thing when it's all shined up! The new BCP command center is right though that white x-braced window right there. --->

It looks as though the Skychicken has been adopted by a new family, some real tailwheel-lovin' guys, a father and son who are friends of BCP. Sad days for my dad and I, but N560Charley is unaffected by time and treats all true aviators with as much respect as he's given. I learned more in that airplane than any other, and it will always a ridiculously emotional topic for me.

My grandfather had a 140A back in the late 50's/early 60's, and we have this photo of him on the wall:

So I tried to recreate the pose from memory, but kinda boogered it up. I couldn't nail that smug look that Grandpa Jake had mastered.

Re: You sellin' out Zane???

Don't know how I missed the rest of this thread this last summer. I guess it has just been a busy summer. Congrats Zane! I'm looking forward to meeting Erin (assuming that she doesn't decide that she has better things to do than listen to pilot talk over lunch) and to catching up. Do you guys have a date set?

Re: You sellin' out Zane???

Congrats Z! =D> Wish my first house was that nice!

You've been a busy man, and it's about to get even busier.

Glad skychicken Charlie is in good hands, that's always a plus when selling something close to ones heart.

When is BCP 2.0 coming again?   J/K

Remember, you can sleep in an airplane but you can't fly a house. Maybe in Kansas. I here trailer houses fly there.

Good day

Re: You sellin' out Zane???

Congrats Z..sorry to see Skychicken go.....but as others have said, you need a place to hang your hat..and other things! Please don't give up flying, you've worked hard to get where you are..hope Erin will support you to do a little flying now and then..and more down the line when things get settled. Your life is in for a big change and there are a lot of us out there pulling for you.

Well I must add my congratulations too. Nice looking place. Now about selling the plane... Oh Well, I know how that goes. In my case I had the wife first, (41 years) then the plane. :)

Who said anything about giving up flying? This is all very strategic so that I can continue flying! :)
