Why don't we start the annual BCP Winter fly-in? It's only open to those who can afford wheel-skis and have a lot of time to wait for ceilings to lift.

Can't make it yet again. Found out this week I'll be in the Middle East during this timeframe.

Thanks, but trust me, my trip this time is not what you think, compared to what the majority of the military is doing. I'm stationed at the AF Academy and in the summer we send a bunch of cadets to the Middle East, nothing forward operating though, to see what life is like, the mission, and how things are different in that area for our jobs and the culture. I'm going as a superintendent of that program, like the NCO in charge...for supervision and such. I make sure they behave, and I teach them about what is going on. For a short 6 week trip. The cadets that go are ones that will be officers in less than a year from then, and a majority will be right back over there in charge of something. We felt it better to get them a little prepared while they still belong to us as students.

So I'll be in either Kuwait, UAE, or Qatar doing that.

Tadpole, My nephew, Kurtis Droppa, is graduating from the Academy in a couple months. He is a great kid. If you happen to run across him, kick his butt for me!

Anyone else planning on attending from around N. CA or NW Nevada (maybe heading through Winnemucca)? AvidFlyer and I are hopefully making the trip - see if anyone else wants to make it a gaggle.

So far I'm a go for this one. It's going to be a long day of flying for us to do this in one day at 85mph but we'll make it. Let's hope for good weather!

Piperpainter...interested in swapping patches? I'll bring you a 22AS patch if your interested...gotta have on in return though.... I collect. :D

Just did some quick online flight planning... 506NM at 80 knots is about 6.5 hours enroute. 80kts is generous. I'm thinking were looking at closer to 8 hours enroute with a fuel stop in Winnemuca which puts us in there right in the middle of the afternoon..yuck..gonna have to plan around that. Let's hope for a tailwind.

Re: 2010 Annual BCP Fly-In set - Johnson Creek 25-27 June

Only thirteen weeks! I can't wait! Piper painter, thanks for booking the field! Everyone be careful. If you are new to the mountains, arrange for some mountain flying instruction as part of your trip! You'll be way more comfortable and prepared. :D

This can be easily avoided with a little dual from an experienced mountain pilot. I'm sure this guy was a good pilot. I fly for a living, but I have never been so uncomfortable as my first time into a Mountain strip. Mountain flying requires new information and technique. Come prepared. It will be more fun!

The faster I go , the farther behind I get.

Re: 2010 Annual BCP Fly-In set - Johnson Creek 25-27 June

I'm with Ernie and Mark. I'm really looking forward to seeing you all up there again. We have such a good time every year. For those of you making your first trip, Mark's advice is well worth taking. You are in for a treat.

We will be heading out on the 20th to the Kalispell area, working our way over to Cavanaugh Bay, then dropping down for the fly-in. It seems that we have to get there earlier and earlier every year to get a good spot. We got lucky last year as one of our favorite spots was vacated shortly before we arrived. Hoping to be so lucky again this year!
