2011 BCP.org Fly-In Johsnson Creek - Departures, Routes, etc

I may be thread-slapped by the man, but I thought we needed a "working thread" as we are a week out. The other threads seem to be slight misnomers.

The Accuweather forecast as of today 6/16. Kind of an oxymoron (accuweather) as it changes dramatically each day. Not sure I believe the snow part, but considering this year's weather, might happen - doubt it. It will be sunny and nice, but if not - a little snow might be pretty :)

When might we expect everyone? and by what route?
Avidflyer and I will be departing first light Tuesday Jun 21, and hopefully at JC by early afternoon.

Our route is as follows, SPOT's a chirpin. Fuel stops in Denio Junction, and either Cascade or McCall.
http://skyvector.com/?ll=41.743285503792734,-119.05010869426022&chart=78&zoom=8&plan=A.K2.KJAQ:A.K2.KBLU:A.K2.E85:G.43.60331436612957,-116.95121856812789:A.K1.KMYL:A.K1.3U2

I'm brining a bottle of Hendricks Gin and fixin's for afternoon cocktails, as well as some wine for the potluck.

Can't wait to see everyone. Hoping to get a lot of video this year and collaborate for a very cool "documentary" when it's all over.

Its looking more and more like I won't have a plane to fly and will end up traveling by vehicle.

Re: 2011 BCP.org Fly-In Johsnson Creek - Departures, Routes,

Jason our Guest Speaker Matt, and My Mom and Step Dad are driving in on Saturday from Cascade . I told them to try and arrive a little after lunch because we will be out flying all morning on Saturday wx permitting. If you see a lifted white Tundra come up behind you ya might wanna pull over lol. Looking forward to the Fly-in. Here's to clear skies and no mechanical issues this year!

I think everyone should bring a party shirt for the Saturday night festivities. If it's gonna snow, I'll be rocking a Hawaiian shirt and flip flops.

Re: 2011 BCP.org Fly-In Johsnson Creek - Departures, Routes,

I am planning on a 5 am bailout from Jackson Hole Friday morning.,,, top off the tanks in Challis and be at Johnson Creek at 8 am or so. I plan on an overhead arrival to scope out the situation and circle down to pattern altitude... You should be able to hear me coming for miles..Anyone gonna have a handheld that morning?.

I hope to get a parking spot kinda close and to the south of show center.. I would ask Rob to save me a tie down spot but I remember has carries the "dinner bell" and I don't need holes in my plane.. [-o< [-o< [-X

Re: 2011 BCP.org Fly-In Johsnson Creek - Departures, Routes,

We're heading out tomorrow for Idaho. We're planning on camping at several strips in Idaho during the week and showing up at Johnson Creek on Friday morning, most likely. We're heading out on Sunday morning for points north (Schafer and Cavanaugh Bay.)

If you see a Yellow and White 180 with a family of four in it, it's probably us. Can't wait! \:D/

I am not sure how Accuweather does their forecast, but here is the McCall national weather service site. As far as I know all the alternate weather services get their data from NOAA.

Re: 2011 BCP.org Fly-In Johsnson Creek - Departures, Routes,

I'm headed over to Johnson Creek in the morning to visit with the Super Cub friends Friday, Saturday. Sunday I would like to go to Driggs, rent a car and head to Jackson. Maybe see STOL if he is available. Then drive to West Yellowstone Monday and stay a night. The wx is kind of iffy Sunday-Monday. Calling for showers as TS. So that can be anything from nothing to down right dangerous. Tuesday head to Mackay or Flying B for a night in a cabin. Wednesday arrive at Johnson Creek.

If the wx is not good Sunday to Driggs but is good at Madras, Oregon I'll go to my place there till the wx passes. I like to be flexible. I don't want to tent camp for 9 days especially if it is raining part of the time. Call me a wuss.

All I know for sure is I'm going to be making airplane noise for the next 10 days. Chase the sun and run from the rain. YEE HAW!

Good day

Re: 2011 BCP.org Fly-In Johsnson Creek - Departures, Routes,

More than likely I'll be driving in Saturday morning and getting to JC after lunch time but well before 5pm to get my raffle tickets.

Slight chance I'll drive in Friday afternoon/night. I would actually like to drive in Friday to have more time this year to meet, hang out and chat with any of the BCPers I have not met yet.

I'll bring something for the Pot Luck, too.

We'll be leaving Roseburg, OR Thursday @ 5:00am. Will be direct to Nampa for breakfast and fuel, then on to JC. I'll be monitoring 122.75 and occasionally shout out to any fellow BCP'rs who may also be enroute. Should be departing Nampa by 9:00-9:30 putting us into JC between 10:00-10:30.
See you there.

Tom Weiss perished in a mid-air collision October 12, 2014. He was an enthusiastic and beloved contributor here for close to 10 years, and he will be missed greatly.

Great idea. Vick and I hooked up in the air last year on 122.8... but yeah we'll be on 122.75 when not a CTAF.

Try skyvector.com - no sectionals to give you away, looks like you're just doing your normal TPS reports.
