Try skyvector.com - no sectionals to give you away, looks like you're just doing your normal TPS reports.

Vick I had it up on my pc also. I was transferring the route onto my sectionals using highlighted tape. I was writing down the controlling agency for the moas we have to fly through and stuff. Mostly it was just another way to day dream about the trip :) I am not a big electronics guy I have a Garmin 196 and wear my mp3 headphones in my ears under my headset lol.

Back on topic does anyone know if there is a huge difference in the price of fuel between McCall and Cascade?

Wow, sounds like a grand adventure already! I think you'll get the longest distant award (if there is an award :?: ). Fly safe and we'll see you soon!

Re: 2011 BCP.org Fly-In Johsnson Creek - Departures, Routes,

Hi everyone!

We are leaving Monday morning from northern Utah for Coulee Dam, spend the night there, then on to Orcas Island for 2 nights. We'll spend a few days there exploring the area. Then down to Copalis to let the kids play on the beach before heading over to Madras. Rob was generous enough to offer his place for the night. We are planning on flying down to the Cowboy Dinner Tree that night for diner. Then Friday we will launch early to be in to JC in time for lunch. We just hope that there are a few good camp spots left by then.

Fly safe everyone! We'll keep an ear on 122.75 as well.

The preferred way is to continue down the valley north from Stanley till you see a notch/valley where the river begins, follow the river north till you see a open meadow area, from here turn west to Sulphur Creek airstrip and the take the south fork west, when you reach the dirt road turn north to Landmark. From Landmark continue north to Johnson Creek (or Yellow Pine).

Re: 2011 BCP.org Fly-In Johsnson Creek - Departures, Routes,

As I understand it, if possible you land on 17 and depart 35. Both are left traffic. The house is off the end of 17 and you need to stay well to the East of the house either landing or departing. Runway slopes up to the North. Is that right?

Is the canyon wide enough for a pattern approach on both runways? Looks like most Videos I see, everyone just uses a straight in approach on both ends. Looks like most people take a right turn around the mountain to line up with 17 or a left then right to go around the house on 35. Any of you guys have any more info we should know about? Thanks

Runway 17 is upslope to the SOUTH..white house is to the SOUTH end of the runway..PLEASE do not fly over the house!! Generally land 17 uphill, unless winds are from the North. When landing 17, I use a left traffic pattern at about 5800ft,but you use whatever altitude you want just make sure to communicate your intesions on 122.9. There are two windsocks on the west side of the field.

Re: 2011 BCP.org Fly-In Johsnson Creek - Departures, Routes,

Sorry to resurrect this, but there was a big discussion on this after last year's fly-in. The Division of Aeronautics recently sent it out again. I'm on my phone or I would list the link to it. If you haven't been to JC, before, I'd strongly suggest you at least read the letter, if not the thread. There is good info there.

Re: 2011 BCP.org Fly-In Johsnson Creek - Departures, Routes,

I just got home a bit ago. It was entertaining to say the least trying to get to McCall for fuel this morning. Then again trying to get west of Joseph, OR. Drying out all my gear now. Looking forward to seeing you all there this coming weekend. Still not sure if I'm flying or driving.

No problem flying a normal pattern to JC. I fly a Bonanza and am able to do it easily. The straight in approach from Yellow Pine is highly discouraged by the folks from McCall Mountain Flying. Lori McNicholl said as much last month at the seminars she gave at the Idaho Aviation Conference. Flat out said it was dangerous.

Re: 2011 BCP.org Fly-In Johsnson Creek - Departures, Routes,

I fly the canyon when I come back from a days fishing up north... You just gotta talk on the radio and stay over to the right if you report that you are entering the canyon from yellow pine for landing, aircraft waiting for takeoff will wait as you are pretty much on short final in the canyon... listen up for anyone taking off though.. ... I've also come in from the north high and do a break midfield to left downwind losing altitude and landing on 17. most times from the south I do a short approach from left downwind to land on 17 which is upstream...it's really not a difficult strip and it's long enough that you can touch down at mid field and still roll to a stop without brakes...but then if you use up half the runway you should have practiced more slow flight and spot landings before going....I never land on 35.. but i did once going in early in the morning after overnighting somewhere else..cause the north end of the strip was fogged in after a storm...when i landed on 35 I flew north on the east side of the creek just above the trees and turned left after the house to line up with the runway and landed. that's the only way you should land on 35.. if you can't do that and not fly over the house go somewhere else or land on 17.... :D

Oh geez,
I can not help it, my ass is still sore over this from last year.
Do what you have to do......with a little courtesy and common sense.

I am so stoked, leaving tomorrow morning for Moose Creek, JC on Wed. Hoping for good weather, good raffle tickets and good friends. :D
