Re: 2011 BCP.org Fly-In Johnson Creek - Departures, Routes,

I am driving to JC and plan to arrive Friday afternoon or evening. If anyone is short on supplies call or text me as I will be making a grocery run Friday afternoon. I take cash, check, or good food/beer.

McCall, 14:00 hrs wind is 200 degrees @16 kts the report says gust but it appears to be steady.
Dark Clouds building. I would venture to say the mountain winds are stronger with turbulence. Maybe later tonight or tomorrow.

Re: 2011 BCP.org Fly-In Johsnson Creek - Departures, Routes,

My toy is stuffed full of fuel, groceries are packed in it and the ice chest is getting filled with ice just before I launch in the morning. weather permitting..... I spent a bit of time today trying to get approval to leave before the " voluntary curfew" of 6 am here in Jackson Hole... Apparently if I leave before that there 'might ' be a 300.00 fine... Geez......

Courierguy... I am headed to Challis for a potential fuel stop. If I have enough I will stay high and head to 3u2, if not I will stop for some go juice...... ETA is around 7-730 am for LLJ... I will try to monitor 122.75.... otherwise I am gonna be talking to center on 133.25 for FF. cell is three oh seven 690 7828..

Also.. what is the protocol for showing up and not taking someones tie down spot ? You guys out on a day trip leave something denoting your spot ???? Thanks in advance.

Re: 2011 BCP.org Fly-In Johsnson Creek - Departures, Routes,

I'm out of here. FSS reports do-able. Pirep from a guy Eugene to Pendleton @ 11K reported smooth air. Current gusty winds at McCall expected to calm down by 9:00 tonight. Will try for JC when they do. May be camping at McCall, maybe not, but I'm taking off at 2:30, should be to McCall by 6:00 tour the town get dinner and wait for the winds to leave. See you there.

Re: 2011 BCP.org Fly-In Johsnson Creek - Departures, Routes,

I am bringing twice as much (warm) beer as I could possibly want to drink, but no ice, and hope to do some trading? That has always worked in the past.

Courier guy, I will be bringing ice to make icecream for saturday night, so you get ice by using your cranking arm. I'll be in Friday evening and give you the ice then, you just have to swear on your priceless Backcounrty Pilot.org membership that you will take a turn on the crank saturday evening. Flying a blue backcountry Tripacer.

Re: 2011 BCP.org Fly-In Johsnson Creek - Departures, Routes,

I think a cordless drill will work for the icecream maker, leaving the other arm for the warm beer

On the other hand, you can act like your from england, and drink it warm.

Be safe ,and watch the D/A out there,C

I've been swinging a 28 oz. framing hammer the last few days building a cross buck fence with 8" spikes, I'll twist that handle clear off! I'll look you up.

Looking GREAT in our neck of the woods Ben, much better then last evening. I'll go out on a limb and forcast absolutely frigging perfect conditions tomorrow, I better get my act together. I'll see if I can touch base with you as I may be going near Challis also, still trying to decide.

Re: 2011 BCP.org Fly-In Johsnson Creek - Departures, Routes,

Has anybody seen Russ (Glidergeek)? Last I heard of him, he was stopping in Wells, NV for fuel. Then he was possibly stopping the night in Boise (Emmett). I'm not sure where he ended up. I'm guessing he took advantage of decent Wx and just got into JC.

Never mind. I just looked at his SPOT link and appears Russ went on into JC.

If you see a chair at a tie down spot it's taken and the guy is off flying for the day... this has been the M.O. at JC since before I went up there in 96 ... Unfortunately one year at the SC fly in a SC guy took my chair off my tie down and placed it next to the outhouse at mid field and parked his cub in my spot... He said the chair was at the outhouse when he got there but someone else came and told me they saw him pick it up and move it there... There are always a few who don't follow protocol and are of the ME generation...At t huge fly in like this one it pays to put a chair on you spot or you won't have it when you return....just my 2 cents...also since this is Thursday night and if you aren't there yet the above point is moot since all the tie downs on the south side of the field are probably taken anyway....

Re: 2011 BCP.org Fly-In Johsnson Creek - Departures, Routes,

Launching first thing in the morning from Madras. Rob, the Cowboy Dinner Tree was incredible! I might have to redo our w&b after that meal and the doggie bags we are now packing! We should be at JC by 10am to see what scrap camping spots are left. Just praying for anything on the east side with a picnic table at this point.

Hey, if any of you guys happens to see a guy wondering around over there looking for me, it might be my dad. He was driving home from northern Idaho and I told him he should drop by and camp with us again. If you se him, let him know we are in our way.

See you all in the am.

I lost the alternator over Dubois Idaho... It is a custom racing internally regulated unit... Pegged the ammeter @ 60 amps...

I shut it off and did a 180 and made it back to Jackson... Plane is safe in its hangar and I am PISSED    I never have a drink before 5 oclock... Today might be different.. Have fun over there guys. :? :o
