It sounds like it might be doable from a number of sources. i wont know for sure until short final. Plan B will have us land at Coal River and work on a ride from there.

Re: 2012 Atlin Floats and Wheels Flyin & Campin

GREAT news, Atlin photographer Manu Keggenhoff www.manu-keggenhoff.com has confirmed her presence at the Fly in. She will be offering "air to air" photography for anyone wishing to get outstanding photos of their aircraft in an outstanding setting! She will of course be available for ground photography as well. Manu is currently working on the pricing and logistics but it may be as easy as pairing up with another aircraft , do the air session, land and switch aircraft. She will have very good prices. More details to come.

Cheers, BCT

You can always do what these guys did - land and park across the street:

Thanks AKclimber, i am not a member of supercubs so i couldn't open the pics. But if they parked across from the entrance that is the plan "A" i am trying to work out.

Might be worth checking in with Steve Pierce over at supercub.org for the particulars.
They had a great trip from Texas to Alaska in a 90hp supercub.
You might be able to view some of the pics here as well:

Hope you have a great trip!

More good news:
Bart LaLonde (AeroSport Power) is gonna be poking around the McKenzie River in June, and said he'd make a point of getting to Atlin for the weekend, & fly back home with us (two other BC'ers). Some interesting characters planning to attend!

Huge sponsorship!
Great work on that.

If the splendor & adventure of Atlin were not good enough to lure pilots up there, the prizes are!

Fantastic news.... Jerry Woolridge band will be rocking a storm on Canada Day (Sunday night!) Originally from Newfoundland, the quartet will be playing traditional east coast music along with various genres...Great band who agreed to come down in trade of airplane rides!! There are few local flyers who have hidden musical talents so anyone is welcome to jump on stage under the tent and Jam along...so bring your guitar, banjo, violon or your drum set!

Make sure to take a look at our newest prizes from Bombardier, Citizen Watch, Trans North Helicopters Kluane tour & Hartmier photography =D> More to come so bring plenty of $5 bills (or 100 dollar bills  )....yes we'll be glad to take US money

Re: 2012 Atlin Floats and Wheels Flyin' & Campin' *Prizes Po

Yet another great news! 37 year veteran Yukon bush pilot Rick Nielsen will be delivering the Mountain Flying Seminar on Saturday morning before the fly out to the Juneau Ice field/Llewellyn Glacier....this is not to be missed  Rick will be flying to Atlin with his Turbo Beaver and few stories in his pocket! Rick is a well spoken and very personable character who will be more than happy to answer any mountain flying question you will have. He has prepared a presentation followed by Q&A. The even will take place in the hangar.

Here's Rick's short bio;

Rick Nielsen was born and raised in Whitehorse, Yukon where he initially completed training and apprenticeships for two Red Seal Journeyman trades which precipitated his interest in aviation mechanics. He obtained his Private Pilot’s license in 1975 in under thirty days from start to finish as a result of a bet with his father who said it could not be done. He then went on to complete his Commercial license in 1977 and he got his first aviation job with Air North Charter & Training – a new company with only three small Cessna aircraft as a Pilot/AME apprentice.
Soon after starting, Joe Sparling the President of the company came running over to the hangar to ask Rick how many hours he had flying seaplanes to which Rick told him that he had around 60 hours on floats. Joe then informed Rick that he had to be the new floatplane pilot as Air North was getting a Cessna 185 and Joe only had 30 hours on floats. That was the end of Rick’s AME apprenticeship!
A few years later one evening Rick with a newly acquired commercial helicopter license in hand and grand plans to buy a military surplus Sikorsky 58 to go fire-fighting in Alberta and his friend Hugh Kitchen (who flew together out of Mayo, Yukon) drank too much beer and decided to start their own aviation business. Rick & Hugh partnered with another new Yukon air charter company Alkan Air in a purchase and operation of a Dehavilland Otter.
While Rick has done many other things he has remained true to his aviation roots. Rick has flown extensively for 37 years in the North and has amassed a considerable amount of experience – most of it bush flying over this time. Rick has operated bush planes on mountains, glaciers, gravel bars and pot hole lakes and has been involved with rescues, special operations and aircraft salvage and ferry missions.
Rick currently holds a Canadian Airline Transport Pilots License, a Canadian Commercial Rotary Wing License as well as a United States Airline Pilots License and he remains active as a line pilot for Alkan Air flying a Turbo single and Twin Otter.

Re: 2012 Atlin Floats and Wheels Flyin' & Campin' *Prizes Po

"For nearly four decades, Andy Williams has been the guy to call when you’re heading in to Canada’s tallest peak. And the guy to call when you need to get out in a hurry"

WOW.... Renoun Glacier Pilot (Dont' call him bush pilot...he'll remind ya quickly that where he flies, there are no bushes!) Andy Williams has agreed to come down to Atlin to present his famous Antarctica & Kluane/St-Elias slide show! Andy puts on a good ole' style 35mm slide show to many students posted at the Arctic Institute at Silver City, Yukon & Parks Canada folks every year but he is currently in the process of upgrading to the "next gen" by scanning his slides and having an extended slide show ready for Atlin. Andy has countless stories and plenty of tips on ski flying on Glaciers at 2,000 or 16,000' . We have rented the "Globe Theatre" in Atlin (Saturday night) where he will be presenting the show followed by a Q&A. We will have plenty of door prizes!

Click on highlighted part above or here for Andy's bio & a great article & photos by Teresa Earle & Fritz Mueller
