Well...weather looks great for the week-end, BUBBA's chilli is cooling off in the garage, all is packed! Flying to Atlin first thing in the morning and will be welcoming you guys on wheels & floats with some nice goodies from our great sponsors!

Float flyers, when you get within 10 miles, switch to aerodrome frequency for Atlin (123.2) and we will let you know where to park on floats. If you do not reach us, use normal airfield/water procedures for uncontrolled aerodrome. We will try our best to provide field advisory and to marshall you to your parking!

I will be reachable by e-mail or at the phone number provided above 250-651-2226, leave a message.

Have a great & safe flight

Cheers, BCT

Re: 2012 Atlin Floats and Wheels Flyin' & Campin'

Dammit, I ain't comin'.
Been waiting for my bud to show up, he developed a prob, and now the forecast for central BC is clouds & rain for 2 days. It's probably doable, but I don't want to "bear" the wx here to get to your good wx. We'll be up there later exploring, but won't make this weekend. :( Hope to see lots of pix posted!

We had a great time today, although wx in BC appears to be cruddy, we had 8 BC guys coming up, a lad from Nevada, Alaska, Yukon, etc! Weather is for the best this week-end!

Hopefully it is good up the Taku tomorrow. It has been low in Juneau in the mornings with improving trends through the day all week. Hopefully we will see ya'll in the evening, around 7ish.

Re: 2012 Atlin Floats and Wheels Flyin' & Campin'

This morning was nice a clear, low laying fog here and there but mostly good. Same goes for last night, it lifted up quite a bit. One fella from JNU made it in just fine this am...You guys from JNU/HNS/SKAG should be just fine! We are having a great time here, visiting, telling lies around the campfire and admiring the nice birds kicking around

Cheers, BCT!

Re: 2012 Atlin Floats and Wheels Flyin' & Campin'

Dammit, I can't make it! I got home about noon today (Sun) and it don't look doable to get over the ridge to Atlin.

Hope you guys have a great time and if the weather opens up the invitation to come down and fish still stands.

Hey J-M,

Thanks again, and sorry for the 'late' arrival  Outbound WX was much of the same, clear to central WA. Met a couple guys who had been stuck in Smithers for 4 days

You guys have a great thing going up there. I am home now, but not settled in yet. Will put up a couple pics when I get settled in.

Nimpo, was looking forward to seeing you there.... Maybe next year?

Take care, Rob

Re: 2012 Atlin Floats and Wheels Flyin' & Campin'

I look back at the Nov. 28, 2011 date this thread was originally started. (At least that's when you made it official here.) I am in total appreciation of the amount of time it takes to organize and prepare for something of this size. I don't know when the idea was first put out, maybe only weeks before over a cup of coffee with friends. How long did you kick this around with others before deciding to go ahead? I am sure it took an enormous amount of your time and thank you for doing it. It is now become a big one on my "Sure look forward to getting there list". I am also looking forward to seeing photos.

Re: 2012 Atlin Floats and Wheels Flyin' & Campin'

Hi Rob.
Yeah, I was really cranked for quite awhile about getting up there. Couple of things kept me away, but it's on next years list for sure. BIG thanks to JM for all the work to put it together & make it so inviting. We've done it here @ Nimpo for 16 yrs, and now we're rotating locations around the Province, which is a bit more of a challenge organizing remotely.

In the near future a couple of us are going to poke around between Dease Lake & Atlin for a week 'er so, exploring hunting spots. Clear wx will make it even better! :)

See ya (& many others) next year when JM has a better grip on the wx!

Re: 2012 Atlin Floats and Wheels Flyin' & Campin'

GeronimoDriver...was great to meet you and your wife...You have a nice machine, hope you can fly it to Sitka in coupe of weeks... Nice track on the spot...I can claim half of it anyways!

Rob, I'm not too worry about you flyin in bad wx.... 100 feet is a huge step up from that night time 8 footer!

Cub180, you guys know how to party and steal the show at the raffle draws  I'm glad you made it back allright! I flew out later this afternoon, just after Geo got back from his fishing trip with his son...they had a wicked time. We are going to meet in Skagway for the 4th of July.

I will get a post going for photos and videos...it was really a great turn out for a first time event, 45 machines, 8 float planes & 2 choppers! We had a great fly out into the icefield and Taku River.

Check out the photos soon!

Cheers, J-M

Thanks JM! We had a great time. Hopefully I'll see you in Sitka! (http://www.seakaa.org/Page_7.html)
I met up with John today in Haines as he was getting ready to depart on the next leg of his adventure... It sure was a nice day to fly here.
