Re: 2015 Texas STOL Roundup - 2nd Annual

How about we just use a bunch of old Christmas trees with a giant foam pit on the other side? Nobody ever gets hurt on those...
Hoping to make it Phil! In my plane this year.

Re: 2015 Texas STOL Roundup - Food Question

Hey guys I need your thoughts. I'm thinking of bringing in a guy to cook fresh hamburgers Friday night and fresh breakfast tacos Saturday morning (no Jet Center meals here).

The cost of the BBQ Chicken or BBQ Brisket lunch on Saturday will be included in the Participant Entry Fee, and will be $15 for everyone else, just like last year.

Friday's dinner and Saturday's breakfast will be additional. I know most of you are camping. Do you prefer to bring your own food for Friday night and Saturday Morning, or would you prefer I get this guy to come cook for us?

I would trade gas, half on motels, and instruction in the apparent rate of closure approach for a ride from S-W Missouri to this event.

Re: 2015 Texas STOL Roundup - 2nd Annual

Anyone from Southern California planning to attend and flyin to this event. If you have a spare seat, I'd love to tag along and pay my fair share. My crazy work schedule has made it tough for me to finish my lessons so still a student pilot with way too many hours..

Take care,

Magnet,

It's the thought that counts. When my son moves back to Sierra Vista, AZ, I will be through Albuquerque from time to time again. I'll look you up. My son, in Virginia, and I both miss the desert.

Re: 2015 Texas STOL Roundup - 2nd Annual

Talked to Wayne Mackey today. He is planning on bringing his newly re-modified SQ2 prototype to the Roundup. He is hoping a new SQ12 will be ready by then and Randy Goza will bring it down. Either way they are both coming, and they are both former Valdez winners. Think I've got any chance at beating either of them?

The obstacle identifiers have arrived at the post office, picking them up tomorrow. Looks like there is a lot of excitement around this new event. Should be a hoot.

The boys and I will be there! Probably have to drive out this year and tent camp. Kids are excited. Will take lots of photos for sharing with my Canon dSLR setup. Look forward to seeing other BCPers.

Re: 2015 Texas STOL Roundup - 2nd Annual

Can you revise rule #8? It's not really workable for those of us in no-electric cubs who fly solo.

I think a reasonable compromise is to turn this:

8. No hand propping of aircraft without someone at the controls.

into this:

8. No hand propping of aircraft without someone at the controls, wheels chocked, or with the tail tied down.

That sounds reasonable to me, let me pass it by the Airboss. Thanks.

Phil,
I second that "get the cook comment". Just be careful on some caterers minimums. We had that issue at Reklaw. Don't want anyone to lose $ on this deal, hurts the fun factor.

soy, met with the Airboss today and he agreed to the rules modification. The change is posted. Thanks for the suggestion.

AND, for all those who were at last year's inaugural event, you'll be thrilled to know that we also discussed moving the takeoff and landing line to the same spot, took some convincing, and pizza, and beer, but he agreed. Hooray!

Also, we will have dinner Friday night, breakfast Saturday morning, and lunch Saturday. Need to work through the meal pricing and post it on the website. I'll get that done this weekend.

This new obstacle STOL event is costing me a pretty penny so I could really use your help. If you haven't bought your T-shirts please do so. Even if your not coming but want to support STOL in the lower 48, get yourself some T-shirts. I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

One more thing. If you're a member of an aircraft type forum other then 180/185 or SuperCub forums (I've got those covered) please feel free to post a notice about this event along with a link to the website. Thanks.
