Can't make it this year, but want to schedule my vacation around the trip next year - any chance of planning a weekend that far into the future?

I'm sure that I can get the 172 in and out of there, but I'm going to want to follow somebody in.

Food

I was planning on coming to the JC fly-in but, I really don't want to cook. Is it possible to eat dinner in Yellow Pine? I figure I can fly out for breakfast and pack non-cookable lunch and snacks but I'd like a hot dinner. Should I rely on Yellow Pine or make other plans?

Thanks,

Alex

That was my back-up plan. So, are you saying Yellow Pine has nothing to offer?

I think they have one bar/restaurant. You could also fly to McCall and walk across the street to Subway and stock up on sandwiches.

Come on Alex, cooking is part of the fun! How long can a man survive on instant oatmeal and wieners? You could find out...

In '06 Strata and I flew to McCall and bought burger fixings and brats, etc. the day of, so it's something we can put together pretty close to the event.

Or, we could have a "livin' off the land" contest.... :)

You could probably trade alcohol for food, too.

$50.00 prize at BCP flyin

I have a $50.00 bill for the pilot or passenger who has the best item we all should carry.

We will all vote on the best item and the winner gets the dough. I'm out.

Good luck come June....

You can get a pretty good burger in the bar in Yellow pine and we do sometimes if we don't feel like barbequeing. As for McCall there is a great Mexican restaurant across the street from McCall air as well as several others within walking distance. ALso a pancake house up the street next to the super market, which also has those roasted chickens and salads just like all supermarkets in the civilized world.(No offense Idahoans) Hey just buy a steak at the supermarket and throw it on someones grill. Easy! I usually wrap a potato in foil and bury it in the coals for an hour and it's done.....Or just eat chips and dip....

I figured You'd appreciate that. The Mexican restaurant has great food. And I live in San Diego remember...The owner is from down here and I hope he still is there. Ask one of the Idahoans(no Offense meant) . :-k

Should we invite the Maule group to join us? It seems like both groups could benefit from more planes and pilots.

What other strips should we fly to? If we have a rough idea us less experienced pilots can start planning.

Another thought. It probably would be safer if we all tried to fly with a wingman instead of solo. What say you?
Cheers…Rob

I plan on leaving Troutdale, Oregon Thursday the 26th around 3PM Stop at McCall for gas and restroom and weather permittiing getting to JC 7-8 MDT

If the weather is better for a Friday AM departure I will leave at 6AM PDT

I am looking for a wingman from Troutdale or meet along the way. Safety in numbers.

Remember this picture Bruce?

I can't get there 'til Saturday morning. Will there be any camping spots left? It sounds like tons of people are planning on going. How many have shown in the past?

Great. It sounds like there'll be room for me. I'll bring the big tent and all my gear!

There is more than enough room...When the 180/185 group has their fly-in the following weekend...then you'll see congestion. :)

I plan on attending this gala event and in hopes of renewing some old friendships and making some new ones.

I'd like to donate a couple door prizes for Zane to dole out as he sees fit.

Best wishes,
