As mentioned above I went to Will at Stene Aviation in Polson, MT for:
Sportsman's kit plus install
Wing-X kit plus install
Front seat inertia reel 4 pt. shoulder harness plus install
High intensity wing tip lights that flash, alternate, etc. plus install

No paint, just install.
About 2 yrs ago, ran $15K and change....
Installed on a 1975 C-182P.

All 4 being justified to my wife as SAFETY UPGRADES....
Not to mention that's how I justified it to myself, too.

I do have to slow it way down or aim it down to descend,though. It likes to fly a lot more now.
And now it will do steep U turns on a dime.

This is my planned upgrade in a year or 2. Have the Horton STOL on but I would like to add the WingX Gross increase as well replace the bladders with fuel cells.

I put Wing X on the 185. Yes, hangar door width is a consideration, I can't imagine trying to get it in a 40ft door. I installed them because of using the plane for float operations which normally includes 3 healthy people, outboard motor-gas, fishing-boat equipment, ect, on some remote lakes that are not too long. No they were not cheap to have installed. I am happy with them for my application.

I have a 182P and got my Wing X today and am expecting the Sportsman kit and VG's later this week. I'm expecting it to be a different airplane after I'm done. Will post results

Im in the process of buying the WingX kit and Paul is still insisting on a bank transfer. As mentioned before, in this day and age its a bit weird...

The question was asked before, but anyone else have any experiences? I know Air Research Tech has been around and all anecdotal reports I have heard have been good.... But any other thoughts on the wire transfer?

Is that a transfer for the entire purchase/install price? If so, that's a bit scary. Both buyer and seller should share the risk to some extent, so if it's a transfer of a down payment, that's not a bad thing. What he doesn't want to do is do all the work, install all the pieces and parts, and then be skunked when time for payment comes. That leaves him only the option of exercising his lien, and in most states, that's a cumbersome alternative, with the very great likelihood that he'd come out way behind.

As far as a bank transfer vs. a check, if he's promising to get right on it, that's not a big deal--otherwise a wise operator would wait for the check to clear plus some time to make sure that payment won't be stopped along the way.

He's probably just trying to protect himself. I recently was doing a transaction with someone I didn't know and I required either a wire transfer or bank certified funds. The other party sent me bank certified funds, overnight delivered by UPS. I took it to my bank, they looked at it and said it looked real. It had all the correct stuff like safety ink that would disappear with the heat of your hand so it could not be copied on a copy machine and if you did copy it (which my bank did) the word VOID showed up on the copy. It all checked out, UNTIL it was sent by my bank to the bank it was drawn from. It came back as FRAUD/COUNTERFEIT! From now on its wire transfer only for me.

Greg, I believe you can buy the wing-x from Stene Aviation in Polson, MT (the same guys who make the sportsman stol kit).

I think MTV is on the right track. If he accepts a check, the exchange rate of US to Canadian dollar could change while in the mail. A credit card would give him the exchange rate for that day, but would cost 2 or3 percent plus an international service charge. This would require him to increase his none Canadian sale price by the same amount. So is it worth saving a couple of hundred dollars to you to do the wire transfer? It would be to me.

I did a wire transfer of funds to a Canadian firm. If you do it through a major bank branch (Wells Fargo, normally the guys wearing the mask) and you have an account there is no charge. For both parties there is the instant exchange rate lock and for the guy on the receiving end in Canada, he does not have to pay a fee at his bank to convert US funds to Canadian because of your check and there is no wait on the mail float.

I can't see the wire transfer being an issue. I'm in Canada and do wire transfers to the US all the time, only way guys will release stuff without hassle. ART probably will take your US funds without conversion, I'm sure they will have a $us account, as a lot of Canadians with aviation business do.

I also have the wing x but bought it along with the sportsman from Stene, can't remember how I paid him but there were no problems.
