Back in the saddle again--medically "fit"

YEE HAW! Back in the air! Friday I got my medical back, the nice folks at FAA Medical in OK City emailed it to me, and last night I went up and did 4 takeoffs and landings to a full stop. 3 were greasers; the 4th was plenty acceptable. So I'm officially current to carry passengers, day or night. GRRRRRREAT!

Excellent. Congratulations.

I am glad to see the FAA doing the right thing for you.

Medicals can be a real mess sometimes.

Well done!

Assuming you are Third Class, God willing you'll never have to go through that again.

I am Third Class, for the first time in my flying life--couldn't quite pass the 2nd Class eye exam (starting to get cataracts, though soon I'll qualify for them to removed with Medicare), but I don't know yet whether those of us with SIs will be able to avoid FAA physicals. In my case, because my AME is also my personal physician for the last 20 years, I'll still be getting a good annual physical, with or without having to fill out the 8500-8.

I appreciate all the good wishes on here, too. :)

Congrats on getting the medical back!

Glad you stayed in the loop (posting on here) and didn't let the lengthy task (getting medical back) get you down...

Re: Back in the saddle again--medically "fit"

Well, I'm still medically fit, but over the weekend, the Insight G1 engine analyzer failed, so today I pulled it and tomorrow I'll send it to Insight for them to repair it. My engine STC requires a CHT, and the G1 is the authorized substitute for a CHT, so the airplane's grounded until it comes back. The good news is that they promise a one week turnaround. That's a whole lot better than the 3 months the medical issues took!
