Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

Brett,
Thanks for asking. I wish I had more to share, but there have been a few delays that have been beyond anyone's control. Actually progress has been good under the circumstances, but a lot of it relates to wiring, hoses, and baffling, and I don't have many sexy photos worth posting. Still looking forward to completion, and around then we'll have 24-hour daylight and my summer should be hitting its groove, so I'll have more time to enjoy it than I do currently.
Hoping things are good with you,

Sadly not. Lost a little momentum. Hope to gain it back soon. Will post here when there are updates. Hard to match your pace I guess. A friendly race to the finish line might be what I need!

Well, a bit of an update, but no pics. Engine controls, hoses, breather, baffle seals are installed. ABWs are mounted up and ready to go on. May have a video of the first engine start in the coming days, but will probably need some coaching to post it here.

Cheers,

Sounds great, I can't wait for the video and first flight report! Posting a video is simple, if you upload to Vimeo or Youtube just copy the numbers at the end of the URL and put inbetween these brackets: [vimeo]put numbers here[/vimeo], . When you make your post just click on the vimeo or youtube button that is located above the text field and it automaticaly puts the brackets in, all you need is the numbers from the url now.

I know it's been quiet for a while, but progress is happening again. Bushwheels and BBW are installed, new brake lines are fabbed, CGR-30P is in, all engine controls and instruments are connected and check good, the panel is buttoned up, RMD wingtips are on, LED light conversion is complete, and Max Pulse is working. Engine has been pre-oiled for first start. Painter is ready to start next week on the cowl and the Sportsman.

I'll work on that for you Brett. Does anybody know if Imgur will let you upload videos? It's just that I already have an account. Thx

Nothing works better than Youtube and the capture app. You can set videos as unlisted.

Here you go Brett:

Initially had the port and starboard LEDs reversed- since corrected

LEDs in the RMD tips, wired to a MaxPulse switch

29's on, and completed cowl in the background beneath the tube fuselage

And BBW...

Panel, with 296 Dock, USB power ports, Max Pulse and CGR-30P. I picked up Motoadve's 695 and Panel Dock, but that will wait for another day.

Wow! Looking terrific. Looks like a beast on those 29's. Really like how clean the panel came out.

Re: C-170B/ IO-360M1B conversion underway

Hey guys, the plane is soon to get paint, and I'm trying to decide how to treat the wingtips.

Red paint is already bought, and the plan is to paint the Sportsman back to the factory seam on top and bottom sides.

I'm scratching my head whether to wrap the red paint around the wingtips like the two examples below, or just let the red paint die at the beginning of the RMD tips. The tips seem like a fair match for the Cessna white, and I don't know if there are long-term adhesion issues with paint on the fiberglass.

I'm looking forward to better frost-melting with red leading edges, but I don't know how much practical gain there is from having dark wingtips as well.

Anyone want to cast a vote?

Re: C-170B/ IO-360M1B conversion underway

I'd paint the top of the wings red and the tips, having no frost on the leading edge doesn't matter if the top of the wing is still frozen solid.

Awesome!!! Congrats. I'd wrap the paint around the tips similar to the examples. I think it looks sharp.
