2960s work, but they make the pilot work. Those loooong tails are easy to drag, and provide massive drag if drug.
They just require different technique than most floats. The shorter 2870 floats are much easier to fly, but only the 2960 is approved on the 185.
Aerocet has destroyed the market for these floats, by replacing so many of these that the market is swamped with them.
