Cessna 182 LR tanks dual filler ports legal?

Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

Cessna 182 LR tanks dual filler ports legal?

Our 182P is in for annual. It has long range Cessna tanks and dual fill ports on each wing. Interestingly, one of the items on the inspection report is
“ 182s with long range tanks do NOT have IB filler caps. There is no provision for them in the POH or the SK from cessna and because of that they cannot be properly placarded and need to be removed. …”

Interesting because the bladders came from another 182 that had dual fill ports.

Does anyone have any info on this?

I am guessing the shop, Pacific Northwest local, is being especially picky in light of the recent Otter tragedy, but really?

Get the FAA records for the 182 they came from and see if a 337 was filed. Might shed some light.

Were inboard fillers an option for your s/n 182 from the factory? It’s an easy look thru the parts book to find out. If they weren’t then you’re S/O/L. Don’t blame the repair station, they have a lot bigger fish to fry. If it’s something you need for some stupid reason hire a DER and get it done. Maybe there’s an STC? Call Paul @ acorn welding, he’ll know…

You can always just know how much gas you have, it’s not rocket science.
