Does anyone make a split seat for the C182?

Want room for skis, snowboards and dead hookers. Does anyone make a split seat so I can put 3 people plus long cargo? Thanks

I have these in my plane. Perfect for extra room and weight savings.
If you do a lot of long cross country flying with passengers in the back, you could probably find something more comfortable.

Both Atlee Dodge in Anchorage and BAS, Inc sell folding rear seats. They attach to side walls, and floor, and fold up more or less flat against the side wall. Easy to convert from four seats to three to two. An added bonus is that the floor attach brackets then make great cargo tiedowns.

Try the "Kenmore Air Harbor " STC for back seats out of 206/210 on seat rails. Much more comfort able than Atlee Dodge or BAS jump seats. 2 back seats that can be removed or 1 or 2 at a time in or out. I've got this in my 56 182.

I think LakeVue Aeronautics now owns the BAS folding seat STC.

I didn't know this STC was applicable to 182's but if it is, I would give this some serious thought. Seats come out as fast as you can slide them fwd, and when you want a 2 pax ship, the weight of the seats is gone, not just folded up.

Take care, Rob

Looks like old front seats from your 180 with seat rails.

Does anyone make a split seat for the C182?

Kenmore 206 rear seat in the 180 is tied into the factory seaplane kit structure. You'd have to install those half formers under the floor to make it legal. Would require a field approval methinks because those are C-180 part numbers, should be an easy one to get tho...

Correct on the formers. Other than that it spells out the rail spacing, but does not call out a seat part number, which leaves plenty of leeway as to which Cessna seat ends up in there. In fact it is incorrectly titled "206 rear seat STC" because the 206 rear seats are about the only ones that won't work.

Re: Does anyone make a split seat for the C182?

Yes, the seats required are from a 206, just the middle row, not the aft set. There are required part numbers:1214008, 1200605 and a few others I can dig up if necessary, basically '64 to '84 center row utility seats. 100 series Cessna seats won't fit.

Re: Does anyone make a split seat for the C182?

Does anyone have a picture of those seats from the rear inside the cargo hold? Could skis or a small surfboard fit under them with four people seated once the extended baggage kit is installed?

Re: Does anyone make a split seat for the C182?

I have a 73 182P, and would love to put this rear seat mod in. I contacted Kenmore, as previously stated the STC only covers 180/185. they weren't aware of any 182 installations via 337, but he said doesn't mean there aren't any. Kenmore was helpful and sent drawings to me. they recommended running by local FDSO office before tearing in to get a feel for how receptive they might be. I'm thinking this might be next winter's project on my plane for my mechanic, if he feels the 337 would go.

Did you end up making this modification? I have a ‘76 C182P and would love to resolve the issue of removing and reinstalling the rear bench. I would appreciate any information on how your mod worked out.

Re: Does anyone make a split seat for the C182?

I’m just amazed at the reluctance to just install something that’s already approved, ie: the Lakeview or Atlee Dodge seats.

When I was working a late model 185, which came equipped with seats sorta similar to the Kenmore setup, I really didn’t like those seats. The primary beef was that I “normally” ran with just one rear seat installed. But, occasionally, I needed four seats. To make that work, it meant that a significant portion of my cargo space was occupied by that fourth seat, till I needed it. Then, if I had really bulky stuff and needed max cargo space, I had to find space to stow TWO seats. Granted, this was a working airplane with widely varying loads.

The next 185 I worked had Atlee’s seats…..beautiful! Need space? Fold them both. Got a huge load? They actually remove from the plane entirely just as fast as the Kenmore rig.

I’ve got one Atlee seat in my 175. It has confor foam cushions, and I’ve had no complaints about comfort, though I don’t do many four hour legs with someone back there. Do you?

The beauty of the Atlee or Lakevue seats is they are a bolt in, and approved.

I agree with Mike. I have Dodge seats in the 180 very easy to use. They can be taken in and out quickly if you don't want any extra weight.

Re: Does anyone make a split seat for the C182?

I have a pair of C210 middle (offset seat legs) seats available that will work for rear seats in 182. Rail mod and field approval or STC required. PM me if interested.
