There aren't a lot of 1# tools I'd put in my cub, but I can see one of these finding its way for sure. And yep, the pulleys that live in my elk pack prolly might have just lost their spot as well. #-o

Re: Dragan Systems Pocket Winch

Another point worth mentioning is that these machines are designed to be lifetime tools.

Every single component is easily replaceable by one with marginal mechanical skills if it is damaged or broken in the field.

We don't gouge on replacement parts and we are not in the business of designing products with planned life limits and deliberate obsolescence.

I tried to buy one but it doesn’t look like you ship to Canada. Is that correct or am I doing something wrong?

Belloypilot-

We are just getting our online store setup. International shipping was not active. I apologize for the inconvenience.

It has been setup now and you should be able to place an order.

Thanks!

Re: Dragan Systems Pocket Winch

What a neat product!

Seems like a great tool to have in the truck and airplane.

What I love about it is the simplicity of a standard come-a-long but with the technology to be light weight, user friendly and super compact.

Looking forward to picking one up and messing around with it!

Nice work!

Re: Dragan Systems Pocket Winch

This is a powerful little unit! I can think of a lot of use cases especially at that weight. I bet the airboat/mud boat/jet boat community would be another great use case for these.

I'll be treating myself to one of these, a very nice piece of engineering.

Re: Dragan Systems Pocket Winch

Love the craftsmanship on this little guy. Love the size, weight, and feel. Have only played with it a tad, but have some great ideas to test it out on.

I tend to be a bit introverted when it comes to how I like to enjoy my time outdoors. Whether I'm wheeled, on equine, or in an airplane, I usually don't run in a pack, and I usually tend to run far enough off the beaten trail, that being of such a mindset necessitates a good measure of self-reliance. I may run a fair amount of 'disposable' tools at home or in the shop, but out in the boondocks, if it's 'disposable' in quality, I'd rather leave it behind.

For the most part, I keep individual tools and kit for individual activities, but I do have a couple bags that move from plane, truck, or trailer as needed to keep things simple for kit that has multi purpose. This guy will live in such a bag, love it already!

Take care, Rob

And a hefty fee from UPS for customs brokerage on top of that as well. USPS would be a more cost effective.

Re: Dragan Systems Pocket Winch

A word of caution using USPS for shipping to Canada, the relationship between them and Canada Post is poor. The tracking number issued by the USPS will not follow an item into Canada or be traceable by Canada Post. The best luck I've had is with FedEx, they seem to be better equipped for any associated fees, tracking etc.

Just my experience, others may not agree.

Re: Dragan Systems Pocket Winch

Going back a few years ago I had a similar experience but in the last 2-3 years I’ve had no issues with tracking. The service is cost effective and customs brokerage is easy - Canada Post does the work and you just pay the GST (or whatever tariff may apply in today’s world) when you pick up the parcel. Big downside is it’s not fast, but I don’t currently have a winching emergency so it would have been fast enough. In any case, mine is coming UPS and should be here some time next week.

Re: Dragan Systems Pocket Winch

Moving forward, I imagine in these weird times of ever changing political climates, tarriffs and shipping debacles, an idea to consider may be the following;

It's May, while they're just starting to move, over the course of the next couple months there will be a plethora of BCP ers traveling north, and again south for work, vacation, and general hooliganry. Might be an exceptional opportunity to save a couple bucks shipping (on anything), and a better opportunity to connect a few faces.

Take care, Rob

And ya, Jake is one cool cat

That’s a great suggestion. I’ve done that for a few Internet friends and made some new flying buddies in the process. That said, this is not the time to complicate your life with customs on either side of the border - so there’s that to consider.

Re: Dragan Systems Pocket Winch

A quick scan of your subject line got me curious about why a POCKET WATCH would be of interest to backcountry pilots. I don't think your device will keep very good time, but I can see how it might be handy in the great outdoors. Now I'm off for an eye exam...

Re: Dragan Systems Pocket Winch

I ordered mine last week, got a call with a question about shipping (I accidentally clicked local pick-up and shipping too), clarification done. Winch arrived yesterday and I am impressed with the build quality and the cool factor. Compact, light and packs up small. It will be in my kit on my enduro motorcycle for BDR rides and in my hunting pack this fall.

Sold the plane, so ground activities only for me, but I see a ton of aviation uses for it too.

Hopefully be using it to drag a downed bull elk out of the trees.

BCP is a great place and I would not have found Dragan without it.
