Re: Dragan Systems Pocket Winch

FYSA, Pocket Winches are back in stock with significant improvements made.

It is now a 2000 lb device, and we have modified the handle to address some minor customer complaints.

If you already purchased one, no stress! We will update your Pocket Winch to the latest specification free of charge.

Picture below for size reference:

We have had trouble demonstrating how compact this tool actually is. That is a normal size cell phone 3"X6".

Re: Dragan Systems Pocket Winch

Is there any chance you would consider selling just the pocket winch and handle without the complete kit? That thing is a work of art. However at $450 and given I already have my own rather substantial cache of amsteel and sundry soft/hard shackles and pulleys from decades of climbing and fun in the wild, I'd really like to just have the winch. The capio thing looks neat, but a bit complicated - I'd prefer a long line rigged with an infinite friction hitch to adjust the length of the line and not have the weight and complexity of that. I also already own dyneema slings etc. I really want the winch, though.

Re: Dragan Systems Pocket Winch

I have used the pocket winch for some time now and it is a great device. The capio looked a little odd, but once explained to me it makes sense. However it is not needed.

It is so much nicer carrying the pocket winch rather than a full blown Come-along. For the weights and type of pulling I do the pocket winch is great. I did have a small modification (d rings) added to hold the handles while lifting.

Re: Dragan Systems Pocket Winch

If you don’t use the Capio do you tie a knot in the line? And if you tie a knot in the line do you reduce it’s load capacity?

Re: Dragan Systems Pocket Winch

My use is a little unconventional. The winch is attached by carabiner to an electric load cell and then to the item being weighed. The cord from the winch goes up to a Dragan doubler attached to the top of a tripod, then back down to the capio attached to the winch. The capio secures the load during weighing, and allows slow release of the line when done. Without the capio I would need to time the cord coming from the doubler to the winch.

Maybe it can be seen in the picture?

Jake,

Any update on the packable monopod to lift a 180/185 out in the sticks to fix a flat?

JC,

Thanks for asking. We have several new products in development right now. Our focus, however, is getting the business off of the ground.

We are planning to introduce lifting devices that will likely be available during late Q1 of 2026.

Stay Tuned!

Re: Dragan Systems Pocket Winch

Had a call out to change the starter drive on a 180 520 case Ponk last week, guy asks, will you need to lift the engine. Never had to in the past…
The birds on floats I show up with a unit in hand and looky there, one of those pretty Seaplanes West heavy duty motor mounts, you know the one with the lateral tube that runs about half an inch right behind the starter drive. Shit.
Called a couple of my buddies in town and ya, gotta unbolt the motor mounts and most everything else to slide her forward that two or three inches…
We talked about rigging a hoist, an A-frame and perhaps integrating the winch on his wheeler, but none it seemed as wise as flying her out to a hangar and doing it smart, and safe.

Just something to think about, developing a kit that can hang 500# or say 1000#, something to lift half a Cub to cobble a ripped out gear leg back together or swap out a motor. Hang a caribou or even a moose out in the field…

Rocket-

We may have something like this in the works.

Our general focus is maximizing capabilities while minimizing the burden of carriage.

Re: Dragan Systems Pocket Winch

Just a note to say I've now had a couple of opportunities to put my Dragan winch to use, it was more than up to the task and performed flawlessly. I can envision more than a few applications for it, especially around seasonal undercarriage changeovers.

It's a must have item for my needs, in my opinion.

Re: Dragan Systems Pocket Winch

We have been actively testing several accessories that will be hitting the market in 2026. The performance that we have seen in the lab and in the field has been excellent.

Our goal is to create a product family that includes the lightest, most capable and packable lifting/load management systems ever created.

Re: Dragan Systems Pocket Winch

I keep looking at this thinking it's a great piece of equipment ... but I haven't been able to think of a single thing I would use it for and I'm trying to avoid buying gadgets just because they are cool, which I have been guilty of in the past.

Today I found out that I've been recruited to help move a piano.

Dang. Sure could use a Pocket Winch.

Just curious, have you gotten any traction with the whitewater community or swiftwater rescue groups?
