With that in mind, I've thought about helmets before but never bought one. I'm rethinking that now. I fly a 180 with BAS harnesses and try to be gentle with it, but stuff happens. I already wear a survival vest on every flight so clearly I'm not worried about style points. Anyone have some recent opinions on specific helmets?
Seems like the Pro-Tec half-shell line (https://www.protechelmet.com/products.asp?cat=14) is a lot bang for the buck, but how much better in terms of fit/protection is something like the Bonehead Pilot X?

I'd like a helmet but don't have one yet. The Wendy looks like a good option but I want one that keeps the headset intact. I thought the Pro-tec half-shell looked like a good option and tried to buy one twice. The first time I canceled the order after 6 months and no delivery. They said it never shipped because it wasn't a government agency order. They had no problem charging my credit card though. The second time I used a friends wildland firefighter credentials for Helitack. They charged my card but never shipped and claimed they never received the order so no refund. I guess that's what I get for trying to sneak one past them.
