ID Div of Aero: New Big Brother Watching your YouTube Videos
A general forum for anything related to flying the backcountry. Please check first if your new topic fits better into a more specific forum before posting.
Dude, I'm not sure how I got to be singled as wearing the opposite jersey from you. I had nothing to do with the negative comments about anyone in that other forum. I was commenting like a bunch of other people as an outsider observing. And everything I posted took all of thirty seconds to get to using Google. Ain't nobody got time for no stalking.
I've not been living under a rock for the past 10 years or the last 5 so I'm aware of the particular sensitivity of the big creek 4. If you care about access to the backcountry, as I do too, lets organize and follow the recommendations of the pilot organizations who rep us. I think that is the IAA and the RAF. I don't think that's censorship.
I have always loved your videos including this one. I wish you and your dog nothing but the best. I can understand your need to vent. If you aren't angry at the person who posted the letter with your address and you are angry at me for commenting about it - well - I think you read something incorrectly in the fog of the flame war. I was always and still am on your side.

I have received the same kind of phone calls and letters over the years. As Greg S says it takes the fun out of it. He does say it with more flair, I wished I had his flair. I am the kind of person that does not always look up every regulation that applies before I go fly for fun. I have not always been shocked by getting a phone call from someone and I never try to lie my way out of it. I always tell the truth but I only answer the questions that are asked and don't give extra information. I have never had to hire an attorney for this kind of thing usually because I have not done anything to warrant it going any farther then a phone call. In some cases it was a person from the FAA just following up to hear my side.
I am guessing I bring most of this on myself, I'm not looking for a fight but just pushing the limits of what would normally be done with an airplane. I try to always be respectful but respect is a two way street. I have had other pilots call the FAA because I landed short in the grass at a paved uncontrolled airport. I have had airport maintenance tell me I can't land short in the gravel at McCall. It is always something because of these big tires I think. I just want to be left alone. I am not endangering others but somehow that is usually the tone. I will not walk away with my tail between my legs when push comes to shove. I don't want to sue anyone but if someone tells me a ticket is coming in the mail I am ready to fight it and I have been told this by more then one government employee on different occasions.
I probably should just stick with dirt bikes at this point in my life because they are as much fun and a lot cheaper and I never have to deal with the stress that these phone calls or letters involve.

Careful about the dirt bikes, too. There are places where riding a dirt bike is a worse offense than landing an airplane!

This came across my feed today. It's a great example of what is posted every day on vimeo and I would be surprised to see on youtube.

Vimeo is definitely the cream of the crop regarding quality content. I wish my kids would watch Vimeo instead of the garbage that (mainly) permeates YouTube!
Okay, enough sidetracking. Back to your regularly scheduled program.
