It's official! I'm a Maule owner now!

I'm a new dad! I've been waiting for this day for many years. I've been renting or leasing aircraft since I earned my license almost ten years ago. Today I finally get to call myself "owner"! As they say, we aren't really aircraft owners, only caretakers until they continue their lives with another.

Dam love that plane 8) ......looks like it is doing 50 kts just sitting there. Flown lots of planes over the years from J-3 to Otters that is the only one that excited me  When u push the throttle in u better be ready to fly NOW..acceleration is amazing . And that was the older round tail models. I am sure the newer models are great

It's an MX-7-180A, fixed pitch, oleo, O-360-C4F. Not sure the wing or flap dimensions without measuring. The wings varied a bit in this time period, if I recall.

It's definitely got a 20-foot paint job, as it was a working plane before me. But with a good bath, it'll be great while I'm building my project!

Congrats! Now you have another license to learn--ownership is a gob different from rentership! Don't hesitate to ask, either, as there are almost no new questions, only questions you haven't yet thought to ask.

Most likely it has the 32' 11" wing span. 60" aileron and 114 5/8" flaps

Re: It's official! I'm a Maule owner now!

I'm mainly waiting for this Wisconsin weather to stabilize so I can get some quality time with my favorite tailwheel instructor. I got the checkouts that the insurance company needed, but I really want to perfect my technique in this plane. I get the feeling that I'm flying this plane too fast in the pattern if I'm treating it like a 172, so I want to get some time up high and slow so I can figure out how fast I should be bringing it in, and how quickly it descends.

I haven't been in any situation where I felt I was unsafe and putting myself into a position I wasn't ready for. But I'd certainly like to become "one with the beast". That, and I think I need some Stearman time with the same instructor. 8)
