For the last few years, many of the pilots in the Northwest (norcal, ore, wash, ida) have had a get together or two where they would fly in and camp. These are not full "Fly In" weekends, just barely more than an impromptu weekend. More like a "hey, I'm gonna be here this weekend if you wanna come and camp".

Last year a couple of us through out some dates and that was that. It is a pretty good way to assure there will be bad weather on a specific weekend, so if you want to know what weekends the weather is going to be bad, or if you want to camp out of your airplane with some others.......

July 17-18 Nehalem Bay (3S7)
August 7-8 San Juan (ORS)
September 11-12 McKenzie Bridge (00S)

No specific time to be there, or any assurance that anyone else will even be there. Last year Alex flew over on Saturday, under threatening skies, and camped with me a 00S. Here is a vid of his arr/dep to get you excited.

I am in for a couple of these at least.

I'll be camping at Lake sullivan(09S) this weekend most likely. Weather looks like it'll be good! Gonna take a Kayak(if I find one!) and paddle around a bit!

I will be at Johnson Creek this weekend. Planning on being at Nehalem Bay the following weekend.

Is there any big-group-fly-in at JC this weekend? ( I am 'allergic' to high density air traffic-er,ah, even sorta high density......)

Johnson Creek accident today
I've just come back from Garden Valley,ID.180/185 fly in. Beside me on parking area was Tom Zediker in his 55 180.I called his wife tonight and found out there was some kind of accident with Tom's plane and another.Tom and his dog-Molly are ok but 180 is damaged. His wife didn't have much information.I went to Crouch,Id.this morning to check weather and check my email> when I was taking my tent down
I heard Tom taking off.I waved as he went by and prepared for my flight home to Boulder City .

I left JC at ~8:30 am PDT Sunday and there was no 'event' that I was aware of.....to that point.
The 'Quiet Birdmen' (?) were having a small flyin this past weekend. I was told they are mostly retired military folks who enjoy GA.

This happened Monday Morning approx 9-10 am

Can anyone remember are there fire rings at Nehalem. I'll bring some firewood. I'm going to try for Friday night. I do not see a problem as of right now. Who else is coming Friday? Bring your bike. Much easier to get to town 2 miles.

There were fire rings last time I was there. I have to work Friday , so I will not be there till Saturday bout noon. If I am by myself I will bring some firewood as well.

At about 3:00 minutes is some video of the campsites.

Thinking about flying in and out Saturday afternoon to introduce myself. Have to work Saturday morning and travel for business on Sunday.

flying over sat....rest of family driving camper over and all of us spending night at main campground behind airport....jump back and forth,playing dad and trying to be pilot friendly with the guys....been there before,pretty sure just pit with no ring,try to bring wood to help out.......might be other mmv guys come over for the day.........dave
