Re: Northwest get togethers

They are currently staging firefighting hellicopters out of McKenzie Bridge for the Scott Mt Fire, but with this current weather, my bet is they will not be there much longer. I was there last week and the pit toilet was looking pretty good, someone has spent some time on it. There is people water down by the RV spots, and I will try to get some firewood up there next week.

My experience has been that the more time someone spends on a pit toilet, the worse it looks.

I'm planning on this one. Might bring the whole family.

I'll be performing my fly-fishing comedy routine down by the river. #-o

Sounds like long pants, long sleeves, and safety goggles will be required.

Re: Northwest get togethers

I'm planning to be at McKenzie Sept 10-12.

May be flight of two with Maule and Stinson. If not I'll be there Friday eve in the Maule.

Erik, Will there be plenty of firewood for all or do we need to bring propane heaters?

Re: Northwest get togethers

I will try to fly a load or two of firewood up before the fly-in, but no promises so you had better bring your heater.

Don't foget your favorite rock, to throw in the sleeping after warming it by the fire.
I have a small power saw I could bring for fire wood....or can we legally do that?
Headed that way Friday evening. Wahoo!

I flew a load of firewood up to McKenzie Bridge today, and there was a forest crew clearing brush on the south east end of the runway. I told them pile up any decent sized stuff and we would burn it this weekend, but not sure if they will or not. It would not hurt to have a chainsaw around. The ground is pretty wet, but if we get some sun experience shows it will dry out quick. There is a yurt and a couple chemical toilets there now, so we should be good to go. I plan on getting there around noon, see you all there. :D

I flew up under the weather today at 2500, so if the forecast is correct, should be no problem. That being said, this is mountain flying and there are a couple box canyons up there. Follow the river and that will get you there, land east and be safe.
