Re: Oct 27-28 High Sierra Fly In

Well, the weather forecast for Thursday morning could not be better for my planned departure to Baja. So south bound with friends I am. Looking forward to a warm and sunny time in Mexico, but have to admit.....I'm bummed that I'm not going to be out exercising the Super Cub and camping with you guys.
Will be looking forward to the next High Sierra get-together.
I will be there.......cooking the Sour Doughs for breakfast and Tri-tip for dinner.

Everyone fly safe and have fun....

Kevin - Sorry I was vague, I meant to imply exactly that about 124.20--the closest official use is far away.

Dang it, it's not looking good for us either - I'm still holding out hope, but I won't know for sure until tomorrow.

Re: Oct 27-28 High Sierra Fly In

The desert is dry as a bone and in full color! Just landed and will post photos when I get home. Saw around 300 wild horses. It's really beautiful out the now. You could land on the lake bed with any size tires. It like concrete.

T-shirts look really good! I even have some hats...We need firewood! Making a few trips out tomorrow.

Game on! Weather Fx says wind 5 or less! Kinda freaking out here. It's going to be beautiful!

Jeremy you have to come! Same goes for you Rob! I bring you a bottle of your favorite fire water!

Awesome! Just changed the oil in the 170 and she's ready to go. Now I just have to decide what time we're leaving tomorrow. Rob and Jeremy... quit making excuses and make it happen! You too, Allen!

Re: Oct 27-28 High Sierra Fly In - It's DRY and BEAUTIFUL!!!

Looks like we have at least 10-15 planes still coming. I will be there around 10am or so on Saturday to stay. If not there I will be flying the area on the Freq...124.20

The desert is all time now. Seriously...

Here are some pics from today and some Hats and T-shirts...I was a biased by the plane of course and asked Zane if I could put
these T's on here as there is no BCP on it. Just my blog site. I have a bunch of these if someone would like one. After all, we are all Big Tire Pilots...and the Ohio guys couldnt have there own logo wear without the west coast representation...

Image
Image

You can see the one I have been wearing...(desert dust on the brim)
Image

Approach to the lake bed straight ahead
Image

Gold mine is on the right, 2 miles from lake bed straight ahead...one of my favorite place to land
Image

Approach over the trees (bottom left of lake bed) and land
Image

Looking at your approach. You can almost see a road coming into the lake bed itself. Camp is by the trees with planes parking on the far left of lake bedImage

looking west (I put a bunch of rocks out for the new folks inbound)
Image

Looking east - Notice the little dirt hill I put rocks on...they are also on the lake bed. If you land elsewhere on the bed DO A FLY BY AND KNOW YOUR SPOT!!! These little guys will ruin your day
Image

Makings of a white mans fire for Saturday
Image

Hard as a rock
Image

"High Boy Ridge" is at the cloud base in the distance
Image

Looking forward to it.

If you want a T shirt or Hat, send me a PM. $24 includes shipping. All sizes...XXXl - Sm
