It may have been the first time to JC with the Pacer, but clearly this wasn't your first time editing a video! There are so many great video posts here, I hesitate to even consider buying a camera.

No my second. iMovie makes things pretty easy and everything looks good with a wide angle HD camera. I am glad my friends in the Tri-Pacer are ok and send my prayers with the family in the Arrow. What a great group of people. Looking forward to next year already.

I posted this on my PNW thread but it belongs here too

On Monday June 1st we woke up at Cabin Creek, packed up our camp, and took off for a short flight to Johnson Creek. We're lucky we got in when we did because the weather really deteriorated and it rained fairly steadily into Wednesday afternoon.

My heart goes out to all those involved in the accident at JC. I hope you will continue to fly and will come back to JC another day.

Trying to get to Lake Billy Chinook Sunday direct over the Cascades from the Willamette Valley, I chickened out of going through the two layers.
Image

Headed North for the Columbia River Gorge to scoot under the layer and on to what I thought would be better conditions on the East side of the mountains.

I follow roads to Billy Chinook.

I follow rivers.

The next day to JC wasn't much better, but beautiful country.

We took two "lets go see" flights over the next two days, but didn't make it far.
The morning priorities, fire and coffee.

Wednesday on was game day, lots of great flying weather.

X2!

I have no idea what the profit margin for gold is at that Stibnite Mine. But if it stays up, they predict that mine to produce billions of dollars worth of gold and other bi-products. The test drills alone have been bringing in millions of dollars worth of gold

Missed out seeing everyone at JC. Have been doing a bit of flying for hire lately. Said Hi to a few folks at Sulphur Creek, but mostly just saw everyone taking off as I was doing drop offs at the late hour of 9am. The week before JC we did the salvage on the Husky at Dewey Moore. Took the 206 in to get the engine and prop and lightened the sling load by a good 350 lbs for the heli. Our mechanic flew in on the heli and took some Iphone vid. I thought you might enjoy seeing the 206 at Dewey. Matt

Terry, great that you got to visit Cinnabar... It's someplace that only is accessible by 4 wheelers and jeeps above stibnite... Had the pleasure of being taken up there by Dave Immel several years back... Dave was the unofficial mayor of Yellow Pine before he passed last year... He took us up there in his land cruiser.. cinnabar was mined there during the war (WW2) and was used in munitions manufacture i think he said... the ore was so rich Dave said you could scratch a cinnabar rock and it would actually bleed cinnabar... the green pool you pixed is a flooded shaft of the mine...cinnnabar is where Dave taught me about Leaverite... . I picked up a rather cool looking rock and Dave came over and said," oh that's Leaverite..." Leaverite, I said.... "yeah Leaverite there cause it ain't worth a shit"...the old buildings at cinnabar are great photo oportunities.. the plant still had the crusher and giant tumblers when I was there... too bad the van's at JC aren't allowed to go there but then they couldn't get up that road anyway...

That is pretty wild...I was stopped and off the runway before where he touched down and I thought it was short! Thanks for the pics every one! I will hopefully not be in the sandbox next year and there.

Matt,
Really cool with the 206! The grass was tall and the trees/bushes don't leave a lot of room at the top to get through. Do not want to start a discussion on the Husky, but did it catch the high bank at the approach end?

Just a quick note to say thanks from the two Texas Huskies to the people we met on our back country trip. While only at JC for 3 hrs on Thursday, we got great info about staying at Memaloose and Wilson Bar. Thanks for the advise. It was a trip of a lifetime and we thoroughly enjoyed the flying and the company. 50+ hrs of flying and we hit ever bucket list strip except for dewey moore, obvious reasons. We were left in awe of the scenery and even more, the quality of people we had had the opportunity to meet. I am sure we missed a few strips we will have to come back for. Upper loon is one, as well as dewey and I am sure a couple more will get thrown at us. Also everyone needs to have breakfast with Tex in West fork, Mt. Thanks to this site and Shortfield and a lot of STOL practice, we were able to have a wonderful flying vacation.
Next Canyonlands in the fall.
Special thanks to Shawn from Performance and Todd Hitchcock for getting our pods ordered and painted and put on to where it didnt waste our precious trip time. The most professional people I have done business with in a while.
Thanks to everyone we met. We appreciated everything

Hi all,

Well, we made it back Saturday after a week of fun flying. I'll post a trip report with some pics and video of the rest of our trip.

We enjoyed seeing those of you that we did and know that we missed a lot of you. Hopefully next time.

Kids and gear all packed.

Thanks everyone for great fly-in. Also, thanks to those who donated to Ron's family. The total from the collection after the potluck was $1,286 dollars from a very generous group of people. Ron and his wife were very appreciative of it and all the thoughts and prayers on their behalf. He under went a 5 hour surgery to repair his wrist, femur, and clavicle on Saturday and it went well. He will have months of therapy but is expected to recover. Obviously, they are emotionally devastated, but he has a loving wife, 3 month old little girl, and lots of friends and family to support them, so that will help. They are also very thankful for those that selflessly ran to help him and Oliver and did all that they could do to save their lives. I thank you too.
