Thursday Jan 3, 2012 Troutdale to Bermuda Dunes. This is near the 3 sisters in central Oregon. Not a place I want to have an emergency. Video shot with the iPhone 5

Today cublite and I went to Catalina for lunch. On the way back we flew down the beach by Camp Pendleton. Did a T&G at Oceanside, T&G at Lake Wohlford, and back to Bermuda Dunes. It was a picture perfect day.

Re: OregonMaule Destinations: January 2013 socal and Arizona

gas has been pretty cheap at Hemet too but not as cheap as Big Bear... one has to wonder how that is considering they have to truck the stuff all the way up that mountain road to big bear and then it sells cheaper than anywhere in So Cal..

Gas in North Pole, Alaska (next to the refinery) sells for more than it does in So. California too.

Not to thread drift too much, but I have a buddy that just moved from FBKs to VA and had to sell his two gasser Super Duties because the price of gasoline there is outrageous.

Good to see you Butch and all the guys. iPhone video is set to public. Don't know.

Gas at Big Bear is $4.95 Gosh there was this beautiful Cessna 195 up there. Red and polished aluminum. Your Maule sure is looking good. That is the cleanest M-4 I personally know!

Re: OregonMaule Destinations: January 2013 socal and Arizona

why thanks Rob... It has it's flaws but It's been a great little airplane.. does what I want, hauls all my camping gear and gets out of small places...interior and panel could stand an update but everything works and is functional..as with any airplane I wish I could have a little mor cruise speed but with big tires and only 210 HP it's ok...

:D you going to Idaho for the BCP fly in... I'm planning on it this year so I'll skip Utah so as not to overload the wallet.. Idaho always costs me over 1500 every year what with all the flying I do up there...don'tknow if I'll do my 10 days before or after the fly in probably stay after the fly in and hit back country strips and fish... who knows how many years we'll be able to do that so I cherrish my Idaho trips...

Re: OregonMaule Destinations: January 2013 socal and Arizona

for those of you following this thread check this out... we all arrive at Hemet at the same time in the pattern and after all are landed and parked and greetings done, Rob says" ok should we Eat outside here on the picnic tables"... It's 50 degrees which is cold for us so cal pussies and we all look at each other with raised eyebrows and say "are you F****ing nuts... it's F****ing freezing'' and with that we get a description of purely unbearable weather and temperatures that are the norm in Oregon.. but we DID eat inside... :D

Rob, You really have to become more like the rest of us, No eating outside until it is at or above 70 :D

Great seeing you and Butch today, Will check the Weather for either Tue or Thur and try to set up a flight.

Man, what a great way of spending some time away from the shit weather. Thanks for posting the pics. Great way for some of us to live vicariously through your travels. The Sun looks great, almost forgot what it looks like. Hell at those temps Id have my speedo's on and nothin else :) There's got to be some off airport opportunities around the greater LA basin??? No?. I see on Google Earth lot's of dry river washes coming out of the mountains. Gotta be something landable around there someplace.
