Stene C180/185 Rudder Cable Covers
Have problems with your aircraft? Maybe just questions about how best to tune or adjust something? Regs or maintenance? Need to know the best way to do something?
I just pulled out some Stene rudder cable covers to replace my somewhat mangled ones, and noticed a hole not present in my C180B original parts. Is that something Cessna went in later years? Anybody know the purpose?

I believe that on an airplane with floats that is where the water rudder steering cables come out running forward to pulleys and them aft to the water rudders when you remove the tailwheel.

I can confirm this. Water rudder drive cables circle the pulleys the opposite way of the tailwheel steering cables, and go forward along the empennage thru those holes. Also a different set of steering interconnect springs up there if you ever go on floats.
