Re: The Official 2010 BCP Johnson Creek Pic/Vid Thread

Dang guys...I'm gonna have to mandate any future photos or videos of my balding head and/or landing performances only be the good ones... :)

Every now and then I set up for a wheelie and I end up pulling too long before the mains touch, and that tail wheel nearly touches. It's the tailwheel-REAL-low wheeling landing. Gotta stop doing that. #-o I dunno what it is about JC this time...I kept setting up WAY too high and having to extend full barn door...good thing camp was at the south end. Enough excuses...nice video Ernie, thanks!

Just over a week later and I am still high from the adventure. I can't wait to see you guys again. Had the nearly-in-laws here all weekend, which is just about the opposite experience. #-o

Excuses, excuses  .......But hey, I'll admit that I still have less than perfect landings once in a while, We all do. Anybody that say's they don't, is lying!

Hey Zane, don't worry about your hair. You haven't lost it. It is just migrating South and should be reappearing in a few years coming out your nose and ears. Don't ask how I know. :?
That's the funny thing about landings. I can grease them on unless I know someone is watching and then you would think it was my first time, dooooh!!

PS: WE NEED MORE PICTURES!!!

Here's some video's of approaches/landings/takeoffs.

Flying B Ranch approach (from the west) and landing

Cabin Creek approach and landing

I'll post a few more in a week (I need more Vimeo space  ). Hopefully this will help some pilots see the approach before they land. I know it helped me watching a few videos before doing it myself.

Cheers,
Matt

Here's the overhead approach to Cabin Creek. Video starts just after passing over CC and crossing the ridge line starting descent.

The fly-in this year was superb! No accidents! Lots of fun! Zane you did a great job of addressing the group on Saturday night. Thanks a million. The photos and videos are awesome! Kitty and I just got home yesterday. It was the best trip we have ever had out there. So nice to meet new people and see old friends.

Image

I found Kitty her seasonal cabin.

We stayed at West Fork Lodge on the Fourth. Tex and Heidi are wonderful. You have to get over there next year. It is only 80 miles from JC.

Bonanza Man, You didn't say hi when we flew by Billings this year! The Hot Springs you asked about is at Lower Loon. About a half mile hike up Loon Creek.

The following photo was taken at Upper Loon. We had breakfast and spent the morning at the Diamond D ranch. They are the nicest folks you'd ever meet. We just emailed them the night before and they picked us up at an agreed time. Then we did an eleven mile round trip hike to the hot springs at Upper Loon. Absolutely stunning scenery!
