Re: Sierra Flying / Nor Cal

That would be a lot of fun to have another 170 for us! Next time you're down this way let me know so you can show me this strip on the delta.

Re: Sierra Flying / Nor Cal

Robs 170 was definitely performing! He had is lady onboard and was easily getting up and out around 800' if not better. Figuring it was 75-80 at 6000' in the grass. The little 145 held its own for certain!!
Buzz, we need you up here as well. I am down to come your way this week sometime. Maybe Wednesday. LA bound tomorrow for 24 hours...:(
I can hardly wait to fly into John Wayne with the 29's. Wish I could just land on the beach down there. Afraid that would end up making the 5pm news however.

Re: Sierra Flying / Nor Cal

Hey, any of you nor CA/NV guys up for getting in a day of flying Labor Day weekend some time? Its the first weekend I have free in I don't know how long, and need get some AIR-xercise. Would love to try out some of Kevins golf courses. Will bring both video cams (Drift and ContourHD) and my Nikon D7000 so we can get as much video as we have the patience for. I can be in Truckee by as early at 6:30 or so.

Holla!

Re: Sierra Flying / Nor Cal

Lets make it happen! Just say when (sounds like the first of Sept is good for you?) Lets just set a date and do it. We have a number of spots we can camp, including my hanger if you wish. Also, we still have a very cold keg of beer that needs some attention. Maybe we can get a crew to make this happen. We need to hit all 4 of our courses. Should we say Friday or Saturday? EMS- Just make the date that works for you and its on!

Re: Sierra Flying / Nor Cal

Sunday the 4th would probably work best, but could do Saturday the 3rd or Monday the 5th.

Can you do all 4 circuits in a day? What do you think total flight time is? Any refueling options along the way, or do I need to haul extra gas? I cruise at 100mph, but can probably make 110 if I push it to keep up.

Would love to try out some of those 9K+ spots!

Re: Sierra Flying / Nor Cal

We have plenty of refueling options. Truckee is home base. North has Nervino/Beckworth, NE has Stead, South has Carson, Spanish Springs, Minden, Bridgeport, etc. Would be hard to hit the 4 circuits in a day. We could do them in 2 days for certain. Just really depends on the heat and winds. Flying is generally done by noonish. We need to do the south circuit as it has a number of high ones! North has some high ones but again the high boys are getting done early AM. A couple of them are really good camping options. We should put it out there for Sunday/Monday as a fly in if folks are so inclined.

Already looking forward to it!

Re: Sierra Flying / Nor Cal

I'm in if you guys don't mind me tagging along at 80mph. Your all WAY faster than me. I love flying in a group but it gets old after a while when your with a group and still end up flying alone all day way in the back of the pack, especially over hostile/unfamiliar terrain. Kevin can I get with you offline for some coords of a few of these spots?

Re: Sierra Flying / Nor Cal

Hey buzzlatka do you have 180 gear legs on your plane? It seems to be sitting up higher than my 170. Let me know next time you fly down to the Delta strip and I'll tag along.
