Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Re: Where did you fly today?

Cascade Locks. Left Troutdale at 7:45 AM. 21 miles up the Columbia River from Troutdale, Oregon. 30x1875 paved or 50x1875 grass. I like the grass. Did 6 stop and goes and went into town for coffee. I love flying in the morning. So smooth and the temp is just right.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Over the weekend went for a nice flight up the Columbia Gorge to Hood River for some milkshakes, then on the way back to Scappoose went for a tour of the Clark County grass airstrips. The water was nice at Daybreak..... Not exactly backcounty (especially Fly-for-Fun), but at least got the wheels off the pavement.

Scappoose SPB - Hood River 4S2 - Fly for Fun W56 - Brush Praire Aerodrome 5WA9 - Goheen W52 - Daybreak WA46 - Scappoose.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Zane and I did a little early morning training. From Troutdale to Sandy River (grass), Eagle Nest Ranch (grass), Shot 2 approaches to Aurora the RNAV GPS 17 and RNAV GPS 35. Then down to Lenhardts (grass), Mulino for breakfast at the Airport Cafe. Then back to Troutdale.

Cheers...Rob

Re: Where did you fly today?

Rob and I have a good thing going on. He needs a safety pilot to maintain his instrument currency and I want practice flying from the right seat. He's a good pilot and fun to fly around with. It was a great way to start the work day...by not working:

We're so deep into the backcountry that my iPhone only gets 3 bars worth of signal:

There's a town right behind me, isn't there? Oh well. Decent breakfast, big coffee cups.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Met up with highroad and his dad. We flew down to Albany to get highroads Pacer, nice plane. Then up to M5guys grass strip. Then over to Sandy River grass strip. Got an impromptu air show by the local guy. The owner Jack has turn this place into a real gem. Jack was stuck in Albany by the same weather that trapped highroad.

We saw and talked on the radio to I think it was fern hopper. Green and white Pacer. Workn the xwind. Tricky it was.

Got a good 330' landing back at Troutdale.

Flew SPB - Albany - MMV - SPB. Saw a pretty cool amphib doing touch and gos at MMV.

Rob - thats a sharp looking airplane with those new tires!

Stuck the landing the second time around. =D> A little rusty on the Xwinds, I need to fly a little more on those days the it isn't clear and sunny with no wind.................

Re: Where did you fly today?

Flew to Skagway to drop off my son and then went on down to Juneau, severe clear all the way. light winds. Lot's of sea lion on the rocks and several whales cruising around.
On the way back found a pod of Orca and several more humpies. Landed in the gravel on the approach to home and forgot about that damn sinker right at the cut bank, it dropped us a little shorter than I wanted  but we were so slow there were only a few bounces
Oh well everytime I think I can fly I go out and demonstrate the opposite.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Well its not a backcountry flight but a flight none-the-less. We left out of Anchorage (tech stop) at 3am yesterday for Beijing. I had not witnessed the "light all night" until now. Upon leaving, I got a shot of the moon next to the 550's winglet. It was a beautiful sight and the picture cannot do it justice but here it is..

Just a quick joyride around the area. I've never seen it this green... usually it's just brown and dirt.

After 4 years the runway is starting to fill in. I may need to actually mow it this year. =D>

Mowing your own runway.. Now that's a chore I'd like to have.
Step 1: Have a runway.. :)

Commercial solo night time

[googlemap]http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en&ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=108123035891845683416.00046c56b94ca000b0a4b&ll=33.17664,-112.06604&spn=1.064347,2.798767&t=p&z=9[/googlemap]

I had 3 hours that I needed for my commercial time and I didn't want to make it boring. I like flying at night it's calm and no one is around and the people that are just seem to be a little bit nicer. I decided to do fly around a few airports instead of a straight XC to one. It was really fun and got some good night time, and black hole effect training in. no realy pictures this is one from from before I took off all I had was my phone plus it was.... well... night. :D

Re: Where did you fly today?

Yesterday, I flew from Merrill Field in Anchorage to the Halibut capitol of the world....Homer, Alaska just to have a bacon cheeseburger and to......well, cuz it was there.....cross winds started blowing about 30 miles S. of Anchorage and it proceeded to just knock me around all the way to Homer. That bacon cheeseburger at CeCe's was just as good as I remembered from the last time 2 years ago, especially with her homemade coleslaw........great way to spend part of a day. :D Unfortunately, the weather prevented me from being able to see the recent active volcano...Mt. Redoubt. But Mt. Augustine was out in her full glory....some of the locals said they saw some smoke from it on Thursday, but there was none yesterday.

I forgot to turn it back on from Haines to Gustavus, but I got most of it.

Don't know how to post or save it, but this is what I've been doing the last week. Cool trip with my Dad and 14 y/o son.

I don't mind saying that I am one lucky sumbitch to live here and go where I've been this year!

Re: Where did you fly today?

I wanted to pay it forward, so I offered a free plane ride on a local website (I'm very blessed to have this bird!). On Wed afternoon we took off and had a wonderful time. Nice weather too, finally.
