Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Attended the Bemidji Polar Days/Hardwater classic fishing contest. Wx was in the low 30's. Saw some nice folks. Thanks Keg n Cork (Scott Pearson) for the free lunch and to David Quam for acting as AIR BOSS. Next year we'll shoot for more planes.

If you want to go up, pull back on the controls. If you want to go down, pull back farther.

Hey MTV, what cost you more...the plane or the prop???? Sorry I forgot we don't talk prices here. "If you have to ask...."

Seriously though, this old buzzard at the Morgan Valley fly-in told me his last wish in life was to put an MT prop on his cub. Whats the big deal I thought?? He told me it was a $17K swing!!! Good golly could that be true??

They sure look like a piece of artwork.

Re: Where did you fly today?

MTV traded flight instruction to a lad in the Crookston Ag school FAB shop. Don't let those graceful lines fool you. It's stamped FT (farm tough).

Re: Where did you fly today?

Leemer,

Scout nailed it. Your buddies' suggested price is--how do you say???---BS actually. Price a new hub and overhaul from Hartzell, for perspective. Now, do it twice on the propeller on the same airplane....

Great prop. Everybody needs one of those babies, believe me... 8)

Great pictures, I liked the one of the snack shack, and noticed "hot scotch" was one of the drinks offered. Hmmmm!

Re: Where did you fly today?

I love this "Where'd You Fly" thread. It's the first thread I look for when checking for new posts. Just need more captions under the pics so we'll know what's what, who's what and what fer "or something". ;)

No, they didn't escort me to the ground. But there were a bunch of them at Pueblo today.

Re: Where did you fly today?

I did it. Today I passed my checkride and am now one of the newest Land and Sea Commercial Pilot. I did it at Sheble Aviation in Fort Mohave where I spent 3 days going up and down the Colorado River and Lake Havasu learning to land a plane on the water. I also received my land rating. The flight school up here is really great at being very practical about what you need to know to be a competent pilot and pass the check ride with no fluff which is what I like.

they have a Beech 18 on floats the thing is soo cool there was a 70 year old guy getting he's AMES ratting I got to ride in it back to the dock here we are refueling it

yes I guess they need the hummer to pull the fuel truck in the sand

here is the Lake Buccaneer what I flew in for both rattings

We were excited to heli in Silverton — until we saw the bird. Looking like something your stoner uncle built in the garage out of four Meccano sets, a fish tank, and an AMC Pacer, this helicopter seats a pilot plus two only, making it a tricky vehicle, logistics-wise, when your group has 8 people in it. I never did find out but they did say they would give a killer group rate if 2 or 3 do a ratting at the same time.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Thanks.

Many years back I was told there were two on floats left in the US -- one in AK and one in Florida. Then I heard a rumor the one in AK wrecked -- never could find out if it was true or not.

Thank you, and Have a cold one!
