Educational bit - a group would be called a rafter of turkeys.Mojave Flyer wrote:...Apparently a whole flock (or gaggle or whatever a bunch of turkeys are called) ...

Flyhound wrote:I flew to the San Juan Islands yesterday, and down through the southern part of Puget Sound today. The sky was incredibly clear, the mountains were beautiful, and the sunsets were sublime, but all landings were on pavement. I feel odd posting flying shots that end as far from the backcountry as possible on this website. I still long for getting to know the backcountry strips in this area. I feel like a flight that ends on something other than pavement would give me permission to post the beautiful in-flight shots and video taken in this incredible corner of the country. In the meantime, I keep flying so I won't be too rusty when the opportunity arises to fly to some nearby grass strips.

Mojave Flyer wrote:Chiriaco Summit...great stop. A pretty decent greasy spoon there and the Patton Museum is pretty cool if you are into that sort of thing. The flight over Joshua Tree is spectacular. I do love the desert out there.

Just stay VFR under the Bravo, it's pretty easy with or without flight following.
