Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

These are from the small Camera, haven't looked through the 7D yet. Leaving the lake headed back to BRD for the season.

In order to break up the monotony of perfection known as BRD photography....

Coming back into Boulder at sunset after a day of flying in the mountains. You can spot the Denver skyline on the left and Pike's Peak in the center under my wingtip. Colorado's 14,000' peaks make good indicators of visibility. Pike's is about 80 miles south. Mt Evans (under my pitot) is about 35 miles.

Saturday was gusty and miserable flying:

But Sunday was great! Rory hadn't been out for a long time and needed some Cub therapy, So I tagged along in the Husky as it hasn't flown for a while and needed the battery recharged... 8)

Re: Where did you fly today?

Finally got to get in a Super Cub yesterday and got checked out in the gliding club's PA-18-180 tow plane. Rode along with the chief tow pilot while he was towing a glider to see the operation. Lots of fun. He's a former fighter pilot and still likes to fly the cub like it after the glider pops off.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Nice photos as always. I've proposed that the Cessna Pilots Society meet at Madden's in late June 2018. My proposal won by acclimation. Maybe you'll be around while we're there.

Re: Where did you fly today?

For sure!

It really is a perfect spot with lots of lake/beach for floats and 9Y2 for wheels (plenty of parking) 8)

Fuel/Maint is available at Brainerd and Staples. Also Little Falls and Pine River.

Owners of Maddens are pilots with backcountry experience. (and have a float rating package at the resort using either a 172 on Amphibs or a PA-18 on straight floats.)

Re: Where did you fly today?

Got some good flying in this weekend in my 180, the PA-18-180 tow plane, and my first glider flight (last requirement for FAA tow pilot endorsement). Lots of differences there, all of them a blast to fly.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Sure it's a crappy picture, but that's what happens when you try and maintain a respectful distance of these large birds of prey, take a picture, and stay out of the power lines all at the same time. Once again I'm impressed by how fearless the big birds are, I've gotten a LOT closer then this pic to them several times (but didn't fool around with a camera... that close) and the look they give you is "yawn, big whoop." Not like I'm spooking them or anything, they know who's boss.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Gave this fella his TW endorsement and BFR this week. Picked up his new Carbon Cub in Yakima and flew it to Phoenix. 10 hours and 60 plus landings. Good times
