Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Re: Where did you fly today?

New Year's Day 2018. It finally got up to 0F around 1:30 pm, and being it's tradition, Debbie flew me around the lakes. Perfect Day! (and oil temps not quite cracking 150F)

Re: Where did you fly today?

Didn't take any pictures, but went up for an hr today. This morning started at -30C, amd we've had -40 for most of the last week. So I went out and wrapped the 172 up and put a heater in as the forecast promised afternoon temp of -4C. Sure enough, it was -2C by 2 pm. I just finished a deal selling my 172 to a friend so I took him up to show him some airwork. Well, with the warm came the wind, about 20 mph on the ground. Get up in the air and hardly moved. Tried some stalls, plane wouldn't stall because of the wind. So I pulled in full flap and we did some flying in reverse, got er up to 10 knots! That's a new record for me. Then we went and flew an approach on his new strip before coming home again. All in all it was a fun flight. I love how fast takeoff and slow landing is when the wind is blowing right down the pipe.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Last flights of 2017 from Sunday. Had low ceilings and low vis all day so I took the super cub up for some 500' buzzing, but right before sunset it started breaking up and I felt obligated to end the year flying my own plane so I took the 180 up.

Was a good year including buying my first plane, flying it all over the country, getting commercial certificate, and logging 197.4 hrs.

I was in the same spot the other day, I like your photo better though.

Snapped this Saturday 6/17 as I went by. Thought it would be fun to compare the snow pack a month later. Still a ton of snow up high, but pretty much melted out below tree line, and Ash Creek Butte in the background is looking pretty bare on this side.

...still like your pic better!

Couldn't resist snapping a pic as I flew by yesterday.

Went back Sunday. This guy was blocking most of the ramp...

Blocked off half of the oil coolers and brought temps off the pegs. (barely)

But then the Janitrol wouldn't fire up... -8F = cold ride to Two Harbors. :?

The Gitch was wide open on Thursday, mostly frozen over by Sunday!
