Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

I am starting a collection of burning house and barn fires I have seen while flying. This must be around #10:

...remember, life is uncertain, eat desert first!
... and, those that pound their guns into plows, will plow for those who don't.

Spent about an hour in the cub today, first with my son, then my dad. Didn't have the long lens, so you might have to squint.

First, we saw this:

Then we saw these...

dining on the innards of these:

Not a bad day in the backyard.

First snow this season... What's a kid to do...?

Well, this kid went out with his toy and played. I had to see how things would go with snow on the ground. Turns out things went pretty good since there wasn't much snow and the ground was frozen up. I was able to land a new spot alongside a lake just outside of town.

That was fun, but the flying was so good, I needed more. So off I went to my fave get away. There was a little more snow there, but the surface underneath was firm and nice. Did some hiking. Found a new slot canyon that I didn't realize was there. Damn I love flying. :D

Flying is magic... till you hit the trees.

This is the landing Video to go with my above post about landing at Giant Rock.

First video experience with wifes little Canon powershot camera.

Nice video clip. Shows a pretty good rut in the middle of the strip. Just keep to the right and you should be OK? But of course with all the rain and snow you been getting, it might be washed out next week?

I'd definitely do the low fly by and check it out. There is plenty of room along the right side so you can fly 50' agl along the length of it and get an idea of where you want to touchdown. Today I went out to see the snow and flew above the desert and El mirage was totally snowed over, and that is about the same altitude as the Giant rock.

Down the Willamette river, under PDX shelf, to the Columbia river and back.

Not back country but neat scenery.

Life is good. Life is better with wings.

Had to fly some equipment down to Alamogorda, NM from Colorado Springs in our Seneca. 6.5 hours round trip. Here are the Spanish Peaks near the CO/NM boarder. I know, my blackberry takes crappy pictures.

Hafast took me up in his 180 today...thanks! That was awesome. I don't have great pictures, was to busy having fun flying! We went and played out in the Arizona dirt and reconfirmed that this is the type of flying for me!

Today was the 4th anniversary of the first flight of my homebuilt Savannah. I flew to Lebanon, OR and gassed up with $2.00 ethanol-free 91 octane mogas. The rain washed most of the bugs off the wing, and I reflected on the past 4 years:

239 flights
416 hours
164 hours cross country
843 landings
75 landings off asphalt
1800 gallons gas burned to keep the planet warm
32,000 miles explored

I flew my 150th hour of the year... and got to check out Snow and the Beach all within 45 minutes of flying. As you can see, the weather kinda sucked too.

Had to fly in some supplies to the bcah compound today, Gump sure does go through the ammo out there. It was sure nice to land and taxi up to a fresh pot of coffee this morning.

Now if I could just get him to do windows
