Where would you live if you had the choice ?

Not necessarily information about airstrips or airports, but more general info about a greater area or a route of flight.

Welcome to the site.... If it were me I would NEVER pick Wyoming... Winds blow here all the time, natives are "different" , summers are HOT, winters are COLD, as in -50f, and for gods sake don't even look at moving to Jackson Hole,, Scenery is terrible, those pesky Tetons block my view of Idaho. :D    62 Leemer can testify to all this.

Thats right play down Idaho BIG time. Leave more room for us  Actually this is about the best place in the world to live. But if you want to avoid the winters and still have good access to the bc, then i would consider somewhere between grangeville and lewiston, or up by kamiah or kooskie.

Thats right on and they even charge people in Wyoming a premium in State income tax for the costs of blocking their view of Idaho.

Altitude is Time…. Airspeed is Life!

best place to live

My bride and I thought about that very question for a long time .
I took her to WORLD FAMOUS " Spruce Creek Fly-in Community @ Daytona Beach.

She loved the place as much as I do and we bought a really nice villa and have runway access as well.

Spruce Creek is the best place to live on the east coast --Bar None !!

It has been years since I lived in Fla but I was born and spent my first thirty years of my life down there..... There are a few nice airparks scattered around the state, one I remember was just west of Stuart, well kept grass runways, secluded homesites, friendly neighbors... I think it was called the Naked Lady Ranch,, Mr Dawson ? Is it still there?

Thanks in advance.

Fly-in

I guess if you have money Spruce Creek is the place. I used to live there a few years back, but my boyfriend didn't like it and I sold my place.....now the boyfriend is history and I can't afford a place in the Creek since the real estate boom. I also know after working all week at a hectic pace when I come home I could use some down time. Just a quite place on a grass strip with a couple of neighbors. Nothing expensive or fancy. 8)

You're right.

The Muslims can have their 72 virgins. In my heaven I'll take the Super Cub and the Eurocopter.

Re: Where would you live if you had the choice ?

Don't want to high jack things but thought I'd give the thread a bump since its been a while and folks may have new/additional things to ad.
-------------------------------------------
That being said there have been some really good suggestions and great information posted here.
-------------------------------------------
Thanks to the Navy, the wife and I lived in Fallon NV from 03' to 06' and we liked that area pretty well and would probably give it some consideration for a place to settle down. Just wish I had known of Pops Dory when we were there, we passed through Austin on a fairly regular basis. You too Gumps & Bumper, never met y'all yet but sure hope too.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the western slope of the Rockies in Colorado, the Grand Junction area in particular.
Seems to be central enough to back country exploration and still have a home base.

We are also starting to look into a place to retire some years from now but starting the research early and planning trips to prospective places. Any place with a dry climate, moderate temperature extremes, good location, low cost of living, low taxes, etc...

Thanks,
Kenny

Grand Junction looks pretty nice. I've heard of a lot of people migrating there. Further west you have Fruita and Mack I've seen some pretty nice homes out along the highway in those parts, too. I passed through Montrose a few summers ago. I thought that was a really nice town, too.

Re: Where would you live if you had the choice ?

Hard to beat Grand Junction if you like flying. Tons of awesome places to fly to. Reasonable home prices. Moderate climate. (fly year round) Hunting, fishing, ATV/dirtbikes, skiing, snowmobiling, golf, if it's outdoors it's here.
Within reason, I pretty much can live most anywhere I want in the U.S. and I would be hard pressed to move anywhere else. For me, right now, this is where I want to be. Quite a blessing. Hey, we even have a Cabella's.
