I think it looks good too Brent. But I've been wondering about your cow. Does she need a bottle of calcium or is she just lazy?

Ha ha ha! EB, that's a pretty good eye, definitely shows your background. Most folks have no idea what you're talking about, but no, she didn't have milk fever. About 20 days before she calved, she just took to sitting for 15 or 20 minutes at a time. It must just been a little more comfortable. She's still here, but hasn't sat since she calved that lactation.

How long did it take you to strip? I've thought about stripping my 170 also and just leaving it bare aluminum and maybe polishing it. Did you weigh it to see how much you lost? I've heard of paint jobs weighing as much as 30lbs, that plus taking the rear seat out would make a big difference in a 170... plus think of all the extra beer you could carry into the backcountry! :lol:

Rob, I like the way you think. No, I didn't weigh the plane before, however, I have almost $2000.00 in Stewart Systems primer and paint that is still in the boxes that weighs in at around 50lbs. Still has to weigh something after it drys. I used Stewart Systems Eco-Strip 3000 stripper that worked exceptionally well and has no nasty smell or skin burning tendencies. Took about ten evenings with the wings on. Pulled all the control surfaces and the vertical. Big project, but not terrible. My backseat lives elsewhere as well.

FWIW I weighed my 180 before and after paint just to see what it really came out to. In my case it came out to 34#... and it is fairly sparsely painted ... Not sure I'd ever do that to a bare plane again although not sure I'd go to the trouble of stripping one either....

She reminds me of one of those goofy "Far Side" cartoons. I think her forecow is about to say something like;
"Ok Gladys, get off your ass and get back to work, we ain't got all day" :D

Yesterday was the first flight for my '53 pacer in 4 years. Just completed a rather extensive rebuild, here's a little video.

Wow, that was great, Sam! Very nicely done video. The Pacer is pretty sweet too. I like the full greenhouse.

Just finished a restoration on one of those.
