They will come back off in a month or two for some long cross countries, but I've been looking at them in my hangar for months and itching to try them out on some rough stuff in this plane. Nothing changes the look of a BC plane quite as dramatically as some big fat rubbers.

Re: Photo thread: Show Us Your Plane!

I guess I should update my picture, since everyone else is showing off their bushwheels. Here's my J3 with 29" airstreaks.

First J3 with big tires I have ever seen, looks really good.
That hangar floor is also impressive.

When I was your age this was the best I could own and fly.
I've enjoyed your videos on YouTube, puts the Savannah high on my list.

This is probably the first time I've quoted myself, but after hearing the tragic news from the 2014 High Sierra Fly-In, I felt compelled to share just how I found and joined this forum.

I have watched and enjoyed all of Tyler's YouTube posts so much that I contacted him. After finding out he was based out of Corvallis I knew we would meet in the future. My best friend moved to Corvallis about 5 years ago, our friendship is over 30 years long. His name is Craig and like me he his an aviation nut, but unlike me has never been PIC due to family and financial constraints. Tyler generously offered to give both Craig and I a ride in his Savannah, one at a time of course as it is a LSA.

My sincere condolences to Tyler's family and friends. I'm sorry I never got to meet him in person, as he would have been one I would have sought out at future fly ins.

I wonder if any of his friends here would post a tribute thread? I'll never have the opportunity to know him the way you folks have, but would cherish your sharing.

Here is a small sample of what attracted me to Tyler and the concept of back country flying.

Pacer build is looking good. My hangar neighbor is building one up also, been a long time but he's getting down to the short strokes now.

I assume that you're talking about flight testing. Fifty hours? I'd always heard it was a 40 hour flight test requirement for AB experimentals, maybe less if you have a certificated engine.
