Spent the weekend at Caveman
Rod/Hunter have been doin a lot to make this the best flyin yet
Runway was in great shape, everything was lookin good.
I stopped at Rockland Ranch and they want to be part of the Poker Run, so that's cool. I asked them about making sandwhitches for those that would like buy some there. And I told them that some would probly be offering rides. Their strip/road is also in great shape.
Stopped up to Canyonlands Airport lookin for contributions to the raffle. Redtail donated a t-shirt and hat.

Anoher thing I want you folks to be aware of is that there are several sets of power lines crossing the river upriver from the Caveman Lodge. Some are marked, some are not.

Well, I was really hoping Rose and I would make it this year, especially after missing last year. Events keep conspiring against us. This year, we return from a work-related two-week South America trip at noon on Friday May 24th after flying all night so it doesn't look like we can make Caveman this year either. I'm bummed .

I was hoping the dates would change or something, but the tickets are booked and it looks like we are pretty much locked in at this point. I'm sure it will be a great time as always. Everyone have fun and fly safe.

Just come down Saterday.
All you will miss is the Fri. nite happy hour, the poker run, and bonfire BS, there will still be plenty of that Sat. night. I'll sell ya a poker hand if ya want. Mon. is a holiday, we'll just extend it another day on that end.

Thanks Gary, that is tempting! I think we'll pack for it before we leave on the trip and if all the stars line up we might be able to make it...

I apparently missed both of you guys over the weekend (on Saturday afternoon) when I flew by Caveman on the way back from Edwards AFB. Saw a bunch of kids but no Gary. The strip looks great and the extended parking area should be a good addition. With luck we can fill it up! Have any of the cave rooms been completed? My family and I are really looking forward to Caveman.

Sorry I missed you. It sure was better weather than the last time Ladd, you and I headed there. Hope we have good weather this fly-in. If I get a chance, I will head to Hidden Splendor and Mexican Mountain either this week or next.

aaahhh, just how we like it! I stopped in to MX Mtn. two weeks ago tomorrow and the strip was in great condition. Let me know when either of you guys are up for MX or other local area gems. I would be happy to join in.

Hi everyone,
Mack Mesa will be giving a discount to you all for the week. One change this year is I will get to fly instead of manning the fuel pump. Steve, the owner, installed a fuel master system to take credit cards.
Thanks Steve. For those of you that have credit card fuel limitations, please contact your CC company and have the limits increased. We have found that most people have a $200 / fueling limit. We are looking forward to seeing friends, and making new ones.

If you don't mind my asking, what's the count so far? How many are coming? Sounds like a fun event!

It's real hard to say, there are a lot of folks planning on comming, Many won't know until we get closer to the dates. A lot will just show up. I figure we will be close to 100 planes if the weather is good, and probly a couple hundred folks.

The supercub.org calendar has Caveman listed as this coming weekend 4/26. That doesn't match your dates. Are there 2 fly-ins or is one wrong? Actually the sc.org has the one in May too.

The original flyin had been planned for April, but was moved to May hoping for better weather. The 2013 Caveman Ranch Flyin that is sequel to the ones that we have had in previous years in May 24-26.
Nothing that I know of is going on over there this weekend. And looking at what our weather has been, it looks like the odds are in our favor for it to be better in May. than in April. Time will tell. But i think it is good that it is not this weekend.
