UtahMaule wrote:Does anyone have some good advice or info on the fishing? I was thinking Cabin Creek, but am wondering if all the streams and rivers will be running too high and fast for good fishing?
I am planning to arrive Friday AM and going home sometime Sunday. First trip to the area and thought I would camp at JC and travel to breakfast and to fish, but otherwise be at JC. Any advice would be great. Thanks
A Kit Fox coming out of Wilson Bar just before we went in said that the fishing was great and that they were really nailing them. That was yesterday.

I just checked the NWS site and it looks like they are forecasting the same weather that we had up there for the last 3 days. Forecast is highs in the mid to upper 70s, lows to the low 40s. Partly cloudy skies.
We had the same weather, except it was mid to upper 70s and warm! Bring your shorts. At night, though, it got down into the low 30s, high 20s. I got up one morning around 8am before the sun was on us and the airplanes temp guage said 30. I'm taking a couple of extra blankets. My bag that is good down to 25 didn't do the job.

The Green Hornet has landed in McCall. I had a beautiful flight up a nice burst of turbulence while climbing out of Caldwell but I soared for 9,500 ft and smooth all the way. I left the camera in the car so I will post pictures later. Lori McNichol loaned me a pick up. Apparently first come first serve. Anybody coming for the Mountain Flying seminar give me a holler and I'll bring the pick up over and help you unload. My first impression is what a place of beauty and folks are down right hospitable. I am still playing with the new VG"S so I'll report later but so far so good. I need to play with the speeds. The patroller doors are better then I could have hoped for. It reminds me of sitting right side doorgunner in a Huey with a view of everything and everybody. Just so cooool
Any suggestions on what to see or do,eat etc. please fire away!

Tuesday sometime. If early I'm meeting John to camp at someplace other than JC. If late, who knows, we might go to Owyhee and then to JC wed am. Matter of fact I guess we'll be at JC wed am either way. I'm still working out the details...

There used to be a mexican restaurant within walking distance of McCall air. They had really great Mexican food. Ask McCall air if they are still open. Drive around. It's a beautiful town... You'll find stuff to do....

Holy S--t!! JC has been invaded! Doesn't look like there is any place to park and they've got the camera surrounded!
Are we going to have to pick a number to land come Friday?

They'll probably be gone tomorrow. Cub fly in. Some may stay for us but I bet most will leave tomorrow. I'm arriving there tomorrow afternoon, weather permitting, and it is questionable I see. Possible t storms.

There used to be a great burger place with picnic tables out front, right side of street as you went through town headed north. They had great onion rings.

Most should be gone today, but a couple of mornings ago, I had to wait 10-15 minutes to takeoff. I just happened to be heading out when all the breakfast runners were coming back in. Not such a bad thing though. The plane needed to warm up and it was a pretty sight to watch.

We have some scattered cumulus and bright sunshine this morning in McCALL.
I am off to do some sight seeing. Thanks for the inputs.

The weather has been great. Last night, we had a quick cold front move through to give us some rain and clean the pollen out of the air. Looks like another great day, and several more to come!
That was quite the super cub invasion, pretty impressive turn-out. Not sure how many "super cub flight of five" call outs I heard on the radio, but makes me smile.
Glad everyone is having a good time in Idaho this year. Let's hope it lasts. It rained most of the night in McCall, so that should buy us a little more time for the fires.

Si Bueno, it's still there. Monday is their 30th anniversary party. Good food, live band, and good deals on drinks.

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”
The fly-in at Johnson Creek over the weekend was FANTASTIC. There were around 100 airplanes and lots of great folks, flying and food. I'll be going in again this coming weekend and donating a couple books to the cause and hope to peddle a few. I look forward to renewing old friendships and striking up some new ones.
