Am looking forward to the weekend. Joe can take any old swing bag and cook it slowly for a day or two and it will be just great. do not worry about the food.

I can't wait neither!! I'm trying to get some more friends to come from SoCal, too! Hopefully they'll make it.

Everybody had so much fun last time that we just had to put you on the calendar for this year. We even hope to bring a few more friends with aeroplanes. I hope that cow you have lined up isn't one that we lost off the ranch before we left, she may be a little old. You might want to start marinating the old girl right away.

Ha... I sure hope that ya do make it, that was really fun last year, it's pretty cool seeing old friends ya haven't seen for years, and... I wanna see the Lear Jet get in the short landing and takeoff contests.....

Oh, and as far as dusting off and cleanin up... I recommend not bothering, there's a ranch close by, over by where you lived at the Race Track Ranch, and the name of it is White Stud Horse Springs, I asked Jimmy why he named it White Stud Horse Springs, and he said, "cause when the winds blowing, it don't matter what color a horse is, He's white.."

It gets hot, dry, and dusty here in S.E. Idaho, it'll be nice to go someplace different

Re: 8/21/2010 Austin Fly In, Austin Nevada (9U3)

For years, the Austin identifier has always been 9U3. Now all of a sudden, 58 Skylane was showing me, I guess it's TMT. Go figure, I'm on the airport board and never heard a word about it, but I guess that's cool, now were with the "Big" airports and no longer have a number identifier I guess... I was wondering how they came up with TMT, maybe it stands for Toiyabe Mts.???? Who knows... ha ha :D

Anyway, when ya punch in your gps to come to the Austin Fly-in, it may be 9U3 if ya have an older unit, or TMT if ya have a fresh update... We also have a new AWOS - 132.925... Woo Woo.. Technology has struck even Austin.. :D

I'll get a poster made up, and post it here on BCP, and anyone that feels so inclined, can print it and hang it up at your local scareport.

Thanks heaps... joe

By the end of May, we'll have a new website up and running here, with an event calendar. This fly-in will appear on the homepage, and it should be easier than ever to get info and updates about it.

Would love to attend and meet the infamous Dory family, but unfortunately it doesn't appear to be in the cards this year.

Just found out today that our 91 oct. car gas doesn't have ethanol in it.. Here I thought I was being a pioneer and testing the bad stuff.. ha ha..

Last year Tim was in Mud bog with tornado winds at 3am. We stayed in town at motel and it beat the fire out everything. Sunday morning( remember ridding in back of Coyote ugly s pick up truck with torrential downpour ) was not too good either took until after noon to see a clear shot east toward the highway going toward Tonipah . Dodging clouds for 100 miles at telephone height. Great time and we'll be back this year -probably bring tent so I can have some of Tim's Crapes.I'm going to U88 (Garden Valley ,ID) 8-12 for 180-185 flyin . Way too much fun.

Two big loads of wood are already cut for the fire, and our steer is getting big... Put in an order for great weather, no reply yet from weather gods. Fuel system still looking iffy to be completed before the fly-in, in fact probably not, but we will have a 500 gal convault with eth free 91 oct. for those in dire straights. There has been quite a bit of chatter, so were hoping for a pretty good turn out.

Re: 8/21/2010 Austin Fly In, Austin Nevada (9U3)

Met with the FAA in San Francisco a few days back, and looks like our fuel system is back burner for a couple years. :( Seems we either got shafted by FAA or more likely, our engineer, who was paid very well by the way, or both. The engineer now doesn't work for Lander County anymore...
Well anyway, it's back to plan B, we still have the 500 gal tank and I'll have it full of 91 oct. car gas if anyone gets short.

I was wondering, is anyone interested in a short takeoff - landing contest?? :?: It might be fun for the watchers too. Everything is going to be pretty low key, just for fun...

We (Lions Club) are planning the bar bq for about noon on Saturday, $10 for all you can eat.

Spot landing in the afternoon or evening on Saturday along with a "Butt Hole Monkey Drop" (flour bombing, sort of)

We'll tow a banner again Saturday morning, and probably give some kids rides during the day, if anyone else wants to do some rides for the kids, locals or attendees, feel free, we'll even help line em up etc.

There's gonna be a great little mom and pop band from Reno playing all kinds of really good music Sat afternoon and evening.

Some of us will be caming out there on Fri night to tend the fire for the pit bar bq.

I'm also sure quite a few of us will be camping Sat night too, at least we have in the past.

There is a hot spring and a fun dry lake bed about 20 miles or so away if your interested.

The local Sorority Gals will have breakfast goodies and snackies on Saturday, and the Lions Club will have the "War Wagon" there Saturday too with all types of liquid beverages.

Were still working on a shuttle bus back and forth to town, hope that works out ok, the county said no on their bus.. :? I think that may mean maybe?? ha ha? Or, may have to go to plan B and use my pickup...

From your signature ...remember, life is uncertain, eat dessert first!

Just get in the plane and head west. Three easy days or two miserable ones.
