So as our buddy Ranch Pilot referenced, the new BCSC kit with slats and fuel tanks came in under 650lbs. With the goal of keeping this bird under 1150lbs it seems very doable now. What do you think??
Im running a Superior Engine being built by Barrett Performance Engines. I did the O-360, Carbureted with a MA 4-5 leaned and Jet drilled. 9-1 forged pistons and a Cato 86-38 up front. I just made the final decision this morning on the P Mags. Seems like a no brainer and it saves weight. The EarthX battery is also a no brainer.
Tony with TK 1 Racing is currently working on the outboard shock system and tail shock. The cross gear shock is in already as you will see in the pics. The shock system is a bit heavier but I think this is the way of the future for these aircraft and the weight increase is not substantial.
Avionics: The Garmin G3X is waiting to be installed. With a set of the 31″ Bushwheels going on first (they are 40lbs less than 35’s) 35's will come as well soon enough.
Fabric is Stewarts with simple paint.
Prop: I have ordered the Catto 86-38. I will also try the Whirlwind as there are so many opinions out there.
You do the math. How you can not have this bird come in under 1150lbs? I may be crazy to think that this cub could come in under a 1100lbs but as I keep running numbers in my head it too seems possible. I'm betting not thought. So now for that game we all play. I am curious what you think she will come in at? If for no other reason than its fun to speculate. Whats your guess?
