No inspiration, I gave them a "sort of" idea and said run with it and surprise me...I was surprised!

Its really grown on me. It looks good in person and with the black elsewhere more black on the main fuse and some red, with the chrome slats over the black leading edge, its gonna look good. But yes, I was at first kinda like this emoji...   #-o #-o #-o

Its pretty cool when you see it.

For avoidance of doubt, I wasn't questioning the logic behind the design - I was just inquiring about "artist's motivation" if you will. It's not that different to other planes with the classic tail chevrons really, just a slightly different take on it. Every plane needs a unique distinguishing feature.

To be honest, it reminds me a little of a boomerang - "The plane that keeps coming back for more backcountry!" :D

Kevin,

I like the way you describe the tail art, made me chuckle.

Re: My BCSC - Version 2 (SQ) updated 5/14/16

Well here we go. The bird is almost done. Spent a bunch of time as of late working on this beast. Extremely happy with it and it's weight. The weight is unofficial as we literally threw it on the scales real quick before sending the cowling off to paint.

It's a beast to say the least on 35's. The cowling is a one off and not the cowl that BCSCs is trying to develop. I was not a big fan of the old cut throat look on the older model SQs so we went toward more of a traditional cub look with the SQ look combined. These photos don't show the oil cooler up front or the air filter that hangs about 2 inches below.

Anyhow, first flight will be next week. I'm extremely pleased with how it's turning out. Next photos will be completed with additional stripes and cowling all painted up.

Figured this thread needed an update.

Re: My new BCSC - Rev 2 COMPLETED!!! 7/12/16

Today was the day you remember for a lifetime. Seriously. The nerves and feelings that were going through me prior to flying today could be worth a million dollars if you could bottle it up at sell it. I went to the bathroom twice just prior.

With this being the first ever flight of this model BCSC I had so many wonders in my mind, not to mention windy Wyoming giving me the 26mph winds gusting 35 slightly across the runway. Thankfully it was steady wind. I could have come up with every excuse in the world not to fly but it was go time.

No words can describe the feeling of joy after flying her today. 18 landings in total and she performs far better than I ever expected. The bird is just amazing.

Having my own Indy car pit crew dealing with bugs was an experience in its self!

Back to flying her all day tomorrow.

I hope so.
