I'm with you Christine.

We were initially bummed that we were going to have to delay to Monday to go but with the rain with intermittent sucker holes in the Puget Sound area and the marginal weather at the destination we are not as bummed as before.

Last year cured us of launching into marginal weather.

Ya'll have fun and be safe out there.

I saw those on Foreflight for the first time today. I definitely won't be flying there.

affirm all the "dont fly in shit wx" talk....as of yet, they havent made an airplane or a flyin' worth dying over yet...! and , flying in the mountains of idaho in bad wx and or lots of wind has a unique way of just plain making u super miserable, if not worse...be damn careful....!

Safe on the ground at my place in Madras Oregon. Been to Safeway and got stuff for the potluck if we have one. The wind was ripping through the Columbia River Gorge I was getting 167mph over the ground. Had the copilot Jack riding in the right seat. Jack only gets to come out and play once we get to the house.

The Pacific NW is a challenge sometimes, usually only when I want to fly. I just failed tonight to make it to the east side of the Cascades on an early night flight. Hit a wall of rapidly decreasing vis and mist right over Olympia. A few miles south it was reasonably clear and smooth sailing to the other side of the Gorge.

Landing back at Boeing Field tonight was good gusting crosswind practice. Glad I didn't have a human passenger.

Still looking forward to meeting some of you. Earliest likely arrival at GV is Sunday morning if the Puget Sound weather allows. I have all week to explore Idaho when I get there. Hope there is a few of you still around.

We are up early this morning - 3 am and going to be lifting off to the northwest around 5 am, leaving this 100 degree heat in New Mexico behind! Good weather from our place in Los Lunas is forecast for all the way. Our destination will be Johnson Creek as we probably won't get into GV until after the festivities get started. Have all week to play in Idaho and over at West Yellowstone! Sorry to miss it this year - maybe next year!

The round engine roundup is this weekend in Idaho Falls and they flew out to Smiley Creek for breakfast. Also the Montana Antique Aircraft Assoc had their annual air tour this weekend and went to Smiley today.

Re: BCP Annual Fly-In 27-29 June 2014 @Garden Valley, ID

I just unloaded at JC and was getting ready to leave to go to big creek and someone stopped me and said that they closed the strip. I was waiting on choss and little john to come back and they saw it. A red and white 182. Said it looked like a base to final turn/stall-spin. They choppered the guy out. Possible broken hip but he will survive.

This is all second hand info of course.
