Rob,

Hmm... Are you sure you have the right Garden Valley?

The NWS forecast is Mostly Sunny with a high of 87 on Thursday 6/26. DA looks to be the biggest issue. I've never seen winds forecast that far in advance.

To early to know for sure. Conflicting computer models.

I'm the liaison representing BCP for this year's Idaho fly-in gathering.

I've been asked to remind everyone of standard operating procedures at Garden Valley, ID, (U88).

Here's a link to download a PDF of the SOP. http://airlinesoftware.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/U88_sop.pdf

Please take the time to review the link.

Let's keep it safe, and enjoy our fly-in!

On an unrelated note:
I will have an 80gal MOGAS tank on our Air Corps pickup truck (backcountry SAR fuel truck) with a metered pump available for folks who want MOGAS. It'll be available the entire week leading up to the event, as well as the weekend. Cost will be whatever the pump cost is for the ethanol free gas station in town. If folks want to pool cash for each trip into town to re-fill, that'll be fine. The Gadsden Air Corps will gladly accept donations to help cover the expense of running into town and for bringing the truck to the fly-in - but it's certainly not going to be solicited or required. We certainly don't want to be running a commercial fueling operation, and we want to have fun too, so we'll be limiting the hours of operation to only a few aircraft each day.

My contact information leading up to (and during) the event is as follows:

Aircraft: WILGABEAST

Contact Number while at Garden Valley (801) 214-8203

BCP Annual Fly-In 27-29 June 2014 @Garden Valley, ID

I would have camped there last night if I thought any BCP peeps would be there. We drove through the Boise area on our way home from Wyoming and camped on the Grand Ronde river in Oregon.

I wish I could come but it's not in the cards. Have a fun and safe time, everyone.

Got into Garden Valley this morning we got one of the better camp spots. We got Mogas over at Payette it was $4.30 a gallon, pretty good deal. Not much for breakfast at the golf course just great lunches and dinners. Image

I plan on making ice cream again, so a couple of questions: 1. Is there a store/gas station that would be selling ice? 2. If ice is available, would there be transportation available to run and get some. It would save me the weight of hauling it to Garden Valley.

Last summer they had a pickup available to drive to town. I think the same price as JC. In JC I think they have a couple of vehicles but I only saw one a GV.

Went to Warm springs 0U1 which is just to the east of garden Valley today and walk down to the Hot Springs. the directions in the fly Idaho book suck so I put a big rock marker at the trailhead that shows how to get to the Warm springs. By the way it was worth the walk. Image

That's an impressive looking bunch of backcountry pilots right there! Fun times.

I'd love to make it, but I already used up my hall pass for fly-ins on CO/UT, and SD/MT. I'll have to wait until next year to enjoy Idaho again. Have fun everybody, and fly safe.

Don't you just hate it when the icky weather lines up perfect with the days you want to go airplane camping and then as soon as you need to come home the weather gets perfect.

That's pretty much what I'm seeing on the east side of the state, crappy then getting better by the end of the weekend. Last half of today was thunderstorms and rain. I'll decide Sat morn, got a busy week on the crane and I have to pay for my upgrades somehow. :x
