Generally, most little strips out here in the west aleast, that don't have unicom are 122.9. Some that have a private strip on there own property may choose to use something different. Any of the strips we will be going to will be 122.9. If you want to talkto your buddies while flying from strip to strip, recommended freq's for plane to plane chatter are 122.75 and 122.85. There are others that are u sed, but you are on your own for those.

On a side note: Rod will have ice and bottled water available at the flyin. I am pretty sure that he has potable water there also, if you have a container that you like to refill.

If you have time to spare, go by air. If you are in a hurry drive.

OregonMaule:

Boy ain't that the truth. I left KSTS Sunday morning at 8:00AM to fly to KCNY, for three days of ATV riding with buddies around Moab. Had go to 17,500 over the Sierras to stay VFR on top, dropped back down under the deck and ran into a wall of rain around Tonopah, Nevada. Freezing levels were low and wind was high so I spent a couple of days in lovely Tonopah, then flew back to KSTS this morning. 31 mph gusting to 38 mph when I left Tonopah, but the ride back was pretty nice, just a lot slower.

Didn't get to have fun in Moab, but it was still an adventure. Flying is fun in and of itself. The destination is second place.

Moab got pretty well pounded with rain, hail and lightning on Sunday and Monday. Looks like you guys will have a great weekend though.

It takes a big man to cry. But it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

We mentioned that to him..looks like the wx is coming here right now..suppose to be really crappy about midnight. Maybe we can sneek out Thursday afternoon. Looks like once we make over the "Hill" to Craig, the going should be better.

Flying is dangerous. If you think otherwise, you are new at this sport. Mind the gravity not the gap.

Re: Caveman Spring Flyin 2011 May 13-15

For those of you with Galens map:
Here's a little idea I had, and have been happy with. I took the map to Office depot, had them divide it int 6 sections, then had each of those blown up and laminated. Then I only have to bring out the section for where I am flying. No map to fold/unfold, easier to read, makes good place mats at home.

If anyone needs a free biennial check ride Saturday at Caveman, let me know. Will bring log book stickers in case. Campfire chat can satisfy the one hour ground. Local flight for the rest. Easy and painless.
