Yeah, it's 40 and raining down there. I'll take the snow any day of the week.

That's why I keep telling guys to pack a couple of good books in their survival gear. Boredom is your biggest problem once things settle down.

Rob,
Hang in there this to will pass. Just because you don't drink, do hookers or gamble doesn't mean you can't watch the ones that do and report the funny shit that happens. There has to be a short story just crying to be told. :^o

Re: Flight Following

Rob,

Bill is right, small towns have the best kept secrets. You need to get out there and find a story (If there's a Wal-Mart in Lovelock, I'd start there  ). You have to be sick of watching the news by now. So, put down that cell phone and remote control and step outside to unlock that next great story.

We need Lovelock's current events... and sitting on your butt isn't going to get it to us.

Re: Flight Following

The people her are real friendly. At breakfast I was asking the waitress where the NAPA store is. She said the end of town. I say well I'll have a nice walk then. Two booths away a guy says if you want a ride I'll take you. :D

So now I have deicer, starting fluid, a soft ice scraper, more propane, don't want to scratch my baby. Went to the local Ace hardware for entertainment. No wal-mart.

There is a 10'X10' in door moment to Chinese Americans. There is a story of a local resident, Chinese American who served in WWII and then worked in the local car dealership.

The snow has stopped, sun is starting to poke through and I can see some of the mountain bases.

Good news! Got hooked up with the owner of a hanger at Derby Field. There are only 2 hangars on the field. Hugh has a real engine heater too. What a bonus. Now if the weather gurus are right I'll get home tomorrow.

Fingers crossed. 8)

If there's no Wal Mart, go find the town drunk and buy him a beer.

I just don't want you getting home tomorrow and then wishing you were back in Lovelock because you missed an opportunity. I have your best interest in mind. 8)

Re: Flight Following

Glad to see there is light at the end of your Lovelock tunnel stay..thought maybe you were going to take up a Homestead and stick around a while. Hope you get the plane back in the air tomorrow and clear skies to home. :D
Keep that spot activated and we'll keep an eye on you. This site shows there are a lot of good folks keeping track of you and some locals there who care about a stranger. HC

Re: Flight Following

I have very fond memories of Lovelock. Competed in the Nevada Trophy 2001 (I think it was). Probably the most fun 48 hours of my life. I'm sure all of you back country pilot folks could appreciate a little back country four wheeling activity.

The Red Disco II is mine. What a blast that was!

RobBurson -- following your adventures with great interest. Some of the stuff on this forum is absolutely amazing and totally cool. I'm a newbie pilot (130h) probably going in on a third of an MT7-235 here soon. Very interested in doing some backcountry strips after i get some hours time and capability in the airplane. Hope you enjoy the rest of your stay in Lovelock.

You all are very inspiring!

Re: Flight Following

Sorry ReddingRob, but those of us from Yreka and Montague consider Redding to be far SOUTHERN Kalifornia!!!! Even QMDV way down in Grenada is suspect at times

Yeah well I keep working my way North aspiring for perfection. San Diego to Palo Alto to Redding... Hoping to make the big break out of the PRK one of these days but for now Shasta County works pretty well. I landed at Montague once.... posting.php?mode=reply&f=1&t=4616#
