Ah, gotcha. I have heard that UAvionix has good product support, if that helps.

Let me know if you end up wanting to sell yours off, haha!

Re: Garmin G5 vs Aerovonics AV-30

That's comforting to hear, maybe they will release some sort of product support statement for those who purchase or still waiting to exercise their pre-released deposits

Re: Garmin G5 vs Aerovonics AV-30

They updated their website and are now saying certification Q2 2020. What is that - 9 months delay from original date? Could be delayed into late 2020.

Guess I'll ask for my deposits back!

Guess not- got an email a couple days ago which included this but if information:

"We're honoring orders and pre-orders taken before the AeroVonics acquisition. Your order will be fulfilled by uAvionix at the original purchase price. AV-30 Certified $100 deposits are still valid. A shipping notification with tracking will be provided when your order ships. Any purchases made after October 10th, 2019 will adhere to our updated pricing. Thank you for being a customer, we look forward to working with you."

Great business model - please the 200 guys that placed deposits and screw the 5000 guys that were waiting to see if this is vapor-ware or not. For that reason they can pound sand.

Geez it was $100, it only last until Oct 10 and then we are all equal in their eyes

In a half a year when these will be available (maybe a year), will there be a better option if you want to eliminate your vacuum system? Even with the price increase.

No, it was a $1000 price increase (for two).

Does it occur to you that the original company’s business model was totally unrealistic, and that maybe they figured that out before they got to certification?

Sometimes, prices that seem too good to be true, are. Perhaps that’s the case with these. And uAvionix has simply set the price where it should have been to start?

Or not. But, if the company hadn’t sold, then gone out of business because of a poor business model and unrealistic pricing, where would those folks with deposits be then?

So how much is a certified one now? I can't find that info on their website. Is it $2000? That's still a fair bit cheaper then a G5 and packs more capabilities...

Last I checked, they weren’t certified. Did that happen before the sale?

Re: Garmin G5 vs Aerovonics AV-30

To the best of my knowledge the AV-30 is not yet certified.

AeroVonic's had previously priced both experimental and certified units the same however that did seem unlikely. I expect certification costs are very much a moving target so its equally reasonable that eventually reality will prevail. Establishing the market value of the AV-30 is now in the hands of uAvionix

You're right, it's not certified, but I didnt think the experimental version jumped up $500. I didnt realize they were only $1000 at the start.

Re: Garmin G5 vs Aerovonics AV-30

As I recall the AV-30 was originally priced at about $1500, there was a post-KOSH, end of Summer pricing of $1300 too which an early adopter could further apply their $100 deposit and acquire one for $1200

Ok. So their price now on their website is $1595. So a $95 increase, not $500 like C180 guy is saying...

Lots? $2250 for a proven, certified unit available now. Or, an unproven unit that MAY be certified sometime.....
