Re: Lurkers - Come Out Come Out Wherever You Are...

Hi, I'm Bob and I'm a lurker. This thread was a good idea but from the forum stats it appears there are many more lurkers that haven't come out. Well other lurkers, if I can come out with so called flying experience in this....
Image
...there is no reason for all the others to stay hidden. My bet is no one will make fun of me and I really do want to fly something real. I was fortunate to be working for a company that offered to pay for any continuing education and much to my surprise they accepted paying for my flying lessons for a PPL. Too bad they went bankrupt (not from my lessons) before I finished. Did manage about 15 hours solo but without a paycheck had to stop. Now it is 30 years later and I really want to fly again. I would be taking lessons now but I'm caring for my 95 year old dad.

Some day in the future I hope to be able to contribute some flying experiences, pictures and videos but until then I'm happy reading about the others on the forum.

BTW bigrenna, where is New Enland?

Nothing to be ashamed of flying the "light stuff". The light side of aviation is the most flyingest flying there is in my opinion.

OK, I lurk, but check the site a couple times a day. I fly a C175b with big engine and tires, love little dirt strips. Going to check Roosevelt lake, AZ the end of this month for fishing. Been watching EZ flaps conventional gear conversion with interest. OK, off to the pool with my pretty wife and a beer.

Re: Lurkers - Come Out Come Out Wherever You Are...

Ok, I will step into the light for a moment.

Hi, my name is Mike, and I too am a lurker 8^) I am on this forum a lot learning from the best and enjoying all the wonderful images that everyone is posting. I live in N.W. Oklahoma and fly from my private strip with a newly finished hangar in my back yard. For fun, I have a short tail Rans S7 that is a blast to fly, and I have a new acquired '57 182 straight tail that I am just starting to get to know. The previous owner took care of a lot of the good stuff for me (extended baggage, folding rear seats, Landis fork and 8:50's all around to name a few)

I got my ticket back in 1975, but I continue to be a student and learn all the time. This forum has some great teachers and I appreciate the sharing that continues here.

Re: Lurkers - Come Out Come Out Wherever You Are...

Hi everyone! Figured I should come out of hiding after a bit of lurking/reading over the past few months.

I'm Cody from Atlanta, GA; currently just a PPL student but I have a huge interest and appreciation for backcountry flying and hope to get a bit more involved in that world as I continue learning. I've always been interested in aviation (my father has his PPL and occasionally took me up when I was very young) but a trip to Alaska last May really sparked my interest after getting a ride in a 206 on floats out of Homer.

Started my training later last year and I'm hoping I'll be finished up in a few more months if weather/maintenance/my day job (graphic designer/photographer for a pretty busy company) all cooperate. Mostly flying in a Cherokee 140 although I've been fortunate enough to try out a few really fun planes in my short career (got to log a couple of hours in a Maule M7 on floats in Orlando while visiting over the winter; also got a little time in a MXT-7 that my instructor was borrowing on one of my early lessons which made me immediately fall in love). Unfortunately I don't have any tailwheel time just yet (can't seem to find anyone nearby that rents them) but I am visiting Montana later this month and am hopeful I can get a bit of time in a PA-18 while I'm there.

Thanks a ton to everyone around here for all of the interesting photos/stories/videos, I've learned quite a bit already and hope contribute a bit more on my own in the future!

Time for a bump...

Let's get some new blood rolling for the fall. About to buy your first Pacer? Just started you PPL? Haven't flown since Vietnam but have been dreaming about dusting off the wings...? Go ahead and introduce yourself you wankers!

Re: Lurkers - Come Out Come Out Wherever You Are...

OK - I am a part-time lurker (I have posted once in awhile) and I think my husband is as well - we share this user name like we share our flying adventures. I browse the forum just about every day and have learned a few things from the rest of you. Thanks - Z and now CrzyIvan and the others who contribute so much to this forum! We are not complete strangers as we have flown to BCP fly-ins in Idaho and we know some of you from our flying in New Mexico, Utah, and Arizona.

I fly a Murphy Rebel and an RV-12 (built by my husband and me). We recently finished our Carbon Cub EX and are about to fly it to Oregon to visit friends. They live about 50 driving miles from Jordan Valley and have an airstrip at their place. We hope to explore the Alvord and the other dry lakes around there. And if the smoke/air is not too bad, will fly to Johnson Creek for a day or so.

We have been flying since the early 70s and have built many airplanes over the years as well. Love the backcountry more than the front country, although we have managed to fly to Oshkosh every year for the last 34 (in an airplane we built).

Re: Lurkers - Come Out Come Out Wherever You Are...

Hey guys,

I am a certified lurker but this is my first post. I will keep this short but I fly a Cub in Alaska in the summer and attend Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona, Florida the rest of the year. I live in a large Fly-In called Spruce Creek while in Florida. I am studying Unmanned Aircraft Systems but my real passion is off airport operations. Here is a video from some flying I did this summer...

I love the site and I look forward to posting more. I hope to see some of you at Reno.

Zzz, when is that double ender video coming?

Thanks!

It's nice to see you on here Jan, you're more than just a lurker!
We had fun in OR, WA and ID on the way home. Good luck with your trip up there.
It was great to catch up with you and Mike at Mystic Bluffs this year.
Have fun and fly safe.

I post here occasionally, but mostly just lurk. I fly a 175C with the AVCON conversion (O-360/Hartzell CS). I flew it to Alaska and back last year via the "Trench". Currently in my second year of A&P school in Helena Montana.

It was great meeting you two at JC in 2013. Look me up if you make it to NW Oregon on your trip.

Hey Bobby! Good to hear from you, nice vid.

DE piece is almost done. It's been a little more challenging than usual but it's coming together. Day job getting in the way doesn't help.
